It was called Dead Ernest and starred Andrew Sachs.

By:
good work treble imo
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083405/ |
By:
THAT'S IT.
Cheers treble! That's solved a 27 year old mystery! :) |
By:
treble - you are absolutely mustard at this sort of thing, ever made money on a tv quiz?
By:
No, sadly never made any money. Thing is I am a sitcom nut and have a computer loaded with thousands of episodes of all sitcoms from Friends right through to dads army.
I watch at least 6 or 7 episodes of a sitcom each day. I just love them. |
By:
top 5 sitcoms treble?
By:
1. OFAH
That is all. Right Treble :D |
By:
I wrote a couple of sitcom episodes in the 80s for a series I created. No takers :(
By:
treble how far do you go back? im thinking of a comedy from the 60"s where the main character was a bloke called mister h! any ideas the name oif the show? circa 66
By:
Top 5 are
Only Fools and Horses Friends Dads Army Blackadder Porridge Special mention goes to one of my faves. The Thin Blue Line. Brilliant writing by Ben Elton and fantastic performances from David Haig and James Dreyfus. Sadly, the show was never well recieved. |
By:
Treble.. Do you remember one called "keep it in family" about a cartoonist.. used to come on after After Give us a Clue and before Never the Twain on a Monday..
Or did I imagine it as no-one lese I know remembers it |
By:
RR,think the leading actor in that turned out to be a sex offender and he career was in ruins, big sorrys all round if im wrong
By:
Sorry Terry, cant grasp that one.
I remember keep it in the family, Wached a few, but not too many. Dont think it's ever had a dvd release or an ITV rerun. |
By:
he was a grey haired bloke called douglas or something..
By:
Sorry, but I thought The Thin Blue Line was execrable, just slightly above The Bottle Boys and Nearest and Dearest. I wouldn't do a top 5, because within 5 minutes of posting, I'd realise I'd missed out some gems, but Fawlty Towers would be top, Hitchhiker's Guide would probably come next, then Extras 2, The Office and Drop the Dead Donkey would be up there, too.
By:
Robins Nest a shocking omission
By:
Treble - agree with those five, albeit not in that order and Fawlty Towers in a photo finish with Blackadder. Lot of crap written on here about Friends - brilliant scripts and very well cast.
By:
The lead in Keep it in the family was Bob Gillespie. I dont remember any sexual abuse case though. I couldbe wrong.
By:
'with these feet ? '
By:
Robins Nest actually had an extremely amusing character in Albert Riddle.
I'll never forget his story about his auntie who broke her arm playing on a fruit machine. When asked how it was possible, he replied "Well she won 2 pound, spent it on guinness and fell down the stairs" :D |
By:
i can see him but cant put a name to him,he had lots of bit parts and finally landed a leading role-late 80"s early 90"s
By:
one armed albert you mean?
By:
the early friends were paramount to genius
some brilliant episodes in series 1-5 went downhill the more popular it got imo (Ross and Rachel - Boring) Seinfled is a must for me along with the Ofiice Curb your enthusiasm is also slowly making its way towards the top of the list Fawlty Towers hilarious but can't bring myself to watch more than one episode Other favs include Spaced, Office (US), Everybody Loves** King of queens |
By:
no mention of sexual abouse about Bob Gillespie on Wiki
By:
He also played a right cowboy builder in Fawlty Towers. And he was grandpa Joe in the johnny depp willy wonka. His name is David Kelly.
By:
what was there other one about a downtrodden father with grown up kids called Arthur.. One of the sons got killed in real life in a crash when serie was still going
By:
d13,
I agree with you about friends. The early ones were the best. I personally think Chandler getting with Monica was a turning point in the series. Chandler with aother birds was a constant source of amusement. Without that, he got a bit bland. |
By:
Love Thy Neighbour was unmissable at the time.. As was Mrs Merton and Malcolm, much later, both of which of course now unnacceptable
By:
true treble
i also enjoyed Ross' lack of luck with thel adies the leather pants a particular fav of mine :) |

He also played a right cowboy builder in Fawlty Towers. And he was grandpa Joe in the johnny depp willy wonka. His name is David Kelly. WE ARE ORALLY MEN :^0 |
By:
Albert Riddle a brilliant character in an otherwise shocking show.
The bloke that played Albert was also the builder in an episode of Fawlty Towers. |
By:
The leather pants were brilliant, as were Chandlers attempts to not take the pi$$ out of anyone for a week :)
By:
I used to love Man About The House but I was only 13 at the time.
By:
Hmmm - disagree there, I think the latter Friends only downside was they made Joey more and more stupid, almost childlike and Phoebe became annoying. These two things were probably a result of the plot lines involving the other two sets of characters making them seem peripheral.
By:
Agree about Joey. Exactly the same character progression as Baldrick in Blackadder. Baldrick was actually quite sharp in the first series then just got more and more dumb.
By:
'the thick of it' when it still had the paedo was brilliant. cr@p now
By:
the 1st series of blackadder was cr@p - making baldrick stupid and blackadder smart saved the series
By:
best character in a sitcom for me goes to George Costanza
doesnt get better than George he becomes a genius when he doesn't think about sex. LMFAO |
