As you all know we are at the end of a great season with three leagues now fully completed.

POPPYDOG was crowned Premier League Champion.

MUNTZ STREET was runner up and won the FA Cup.

NIRVANA won the Championship league and will be joined in the Premier League next year with DARK DESTROYER and SLB.

MR MIGGINS won the Cola League and also promoted to the Championship was NATALIA GEMELOVER who won the Dan Chipowski Trophy (for Cola quizzers only).

And there are a number of play off matches still to be settled....

The play offs are going to take place on SUNDAY 8TH NOVEMBER and SUNDAY 15TH NOVEMBER.

The CHAMPIONSHIP to PREMIERSHIP play offs will consist of those who finished in the 4th to 6th spots in the Championship League and the 14th to 17th spots in the Premiership League.

TWO of these SEVEN quizzers will be Premier players next season.

The COLA to CHAMPIONSHIP play offs will consist of those who finished 4th and 5th in the Cola League and the the 14th to 17th spots in the Championship League.

ONE of these SIX quizzers will be a Championship player next season.

THE LEAGUES NEXT YEAR WILL ALL BE 18 PLAYERS....

The games themselves will consist of TWO LEGS, HOME AND AWAY.

They will consist of SIX questions each and will be played BACK TO BACK. Q1, 3 and 5 will be HOME SUBJECT questions. Q2, 4 and 6 GENERAL KNOWLEDGE - just as in the league games.

At the end of the two matches, the aggregate winner in each game will proceed.

AWAY GOALS WILL COUNT DOUBLE
in the event of an aggregate tie.

Should this not separate quizzers, then a tie will be settled with a best of 3 'Nearest to' PENALTY SHOOT OUT.

Quizzers have chosen their home subjects as follows....

CHAMPIONSHIP to PREMIER (2 go up from 7)

PREMIER 14TH - CLARKSON (Natural World)
PREMIER 15TH - KNIGHT OF NI (2nd tier of English Football)
PREMIER 16TH - SHAKY (Scottish Football)
PREMIER 17TH - JOE JORDAN (World War 2)
CHAMP 4TH - JOCKAY (West Wing US tv show)
CHAMP 5TH- MADMADMOON (20th Century FA Cup Finals)
CHAMP 6TH - SLARTYBARTYFAST (The Lake District)

CHAMPIONSHIP to COLA (1 goes up from 6)

CHAMP 14TH - SPLICER KEATS (1980s Music)
CHAMP 15TH - DDUCK (Chemistry)
CHAMP 16TH - OVALMAN (Astronomy)
CHAMP 17TH - TERRY MCCANN (The Life of John Lennon)
COLA 4TH - CEDARMASTER (Films of John Wayne)
COLA 5TH - ASTONTOM (Aston Villa) or RIBBER (World War 2)

Sunday nights would probably be best for these ties. Ideally, we would do 6-10pm, starting each one on the hour (an hour usually being enough to complete the two matches in each tie).

Sunday afternoons are also a possibility for players unavailble on those nights.

Knight of Ni, sometime between 8-9pm on Sunday 8th would be best for me.

What does football's 2nd tier mean btw?
By:
Lozzy
When: 28 Oct 09 17:23
It means the present Coca Cola Championship, which used to of course be called Division One and before that Division Two.

Ie - the division that has always been the one below the big boys.

Titles of the 2nd tier since 1990:

1990-1992: Division 2 (top division was called Div 1, as it had been since 1892)
1992-2004: Divison 1 (top division of Premiership introduced for 1992-93 season)
2004 - present: The Championship (new name for Div 1, starting 2004-05 season)

Ovalman & Cedarmaster

As there are 2 ties which will take an hour in total, how about 5.30pm kick off on 8th ?

Does that suit you both ? Seems to on your posts above? Early as requested by Ovalman, complete by 6.30 as wanted by Cedar. Please confirm.
