VW/Audi. The Japanese cars are also very reliable - Toyota, Mitsubishi etc.

I once read that there hadn't been a single instance of anyone's Honda VTEC engine being recalled for fixing.
A Honda Concerto (not VTEC I'm guessing), if you can find one, could be the ideal buy. Top Gear called them "probably the most reliable car ever" IIRC. |

Something like lexus / toyota. Nissans in general are good, other than the awful renault infected micra.
VW has shocking reliability on newer cars, and has somewhat xfered over to audi, esp with the TT. Anything french/italian will fall apart. |

yep heard about the head gasketts on the rovers..expensive to repair Only the some petrol cars. Diesels on the other hand very good and very cheap to buy. |

The gaskets in the standard lotus 'rover engined' elise alway seem to last. Steering rack is what usually goes on them.

The K series was designed to be both racing and normal day engine. But it never quite worked out they should have redesigned the K series for domestic drivers.

Depends on what model! My Iq3 is about £300 with 3 years no claims, and only £50 more on the wifes MR2.
Supra will probably be a bit more ;) |
