The entire series is being shown on the Military Channel this weekend - and I forgot about it til an hour ago :(

Yes, I've seen it countless times before. But it is still arguably the greatest TV series ever.

Blast - will have to record this some time. Remember it as a kid, but obviously didn't appreciate it so much way back then.

Great Series, though i would say 'The Great War' , about WWI , was superior , and of course it was the model for The World At War.

The BBC made a series much later which involved loads of production staff and loads of money and years to make and it wasn't as good as The World at War. Can't remember what it was called, but I don't think it was even repeated.

Agree with you there Toby, an excellent series with another renowned actor of his time Sir Micheal Redgrave narrating.

To think the Great War was only shown about 12 years before the World At War which is now 35 years old itself !

A mate of mine made the point only a few days ago that so much more info, and so many more TV pictures, have become available since the World At War was made that it is no longer the definitive series.

One of the great things about the series is the interviews. They spoke to some of the war's most important players.

Yes it is. I bought the box set a year or so ago.

£34.99 is a bargain.

Or you can do what Gene's mate did and get them for free! But the extras on the DVD box set are great, and £34.99 is a small price to pay for all that.
