?
It's an absoloute classic, obviously don't sweeten it (maybe a tad if a very tart cooker or the like). But Pork and Apples (pigs in orchards), gammon and pineapple, sausages and cider cream sauce, it's a no-brainer.

agree, I don't get that either, I've never liked the idea of fruit going with meat, of course don't get me wrong, I love fruit, only by itself though
there's this new fashion of having lemon or orange zest to go with meat, what's all that about? really ruins the meal
I once had a lovely bit of chicken served to me in a restaurant, only to find out it was ruined by bits of orange skin I saw on top of it!
am 29 ladycakes, but thinking about my life now.........think i should cut down on the excessive bevvying I have been doing for the past 12 years :(

You can keep your citrus fruits, although orange works well with pork and duck, but proper horseradish and mustard can really enhance a dish, mint sauce can cut through the fat in lamb and improve taste and apple sauce is the badger with a mouthful of succulent pork and a bit of a roasty.

Many moons ago I was on a training course at RAF Halton in Buckinghamshire. Among the many hundreds of recruits and the like were a bunch of trainees from the Nigerian Air Force. One of their number regularly got the girls serving in the mess to put a ladle full of custard over his entire dinner, whether it be fish & *****or shepherds pie or whatever. Reckon he must have had a sweet tooth.

These sauces should always be offered as an accompaniment in a separate dish not chucked all over the plate without being given the choice, amateurs. :(

Roast Turkey, with cranberry sauce. Broccoli, sugar snap peas and cabbage all steamed. Roast parsnips, potatoes (undecided how as yet). Gravy. Desert is banoffee pie :-)
Leg of lamb is now playing on my mind though.

For dinner, doing roast chicken with garlic butter & herbs stuffed up under the skin, roasted in oven on top of onions, whole garlic bulbs, parsnips, carrots etc. Roast potatoes added half way through, some nice steamed broccoli, and herby gravy.
