Been asked to post this for a female biker friend to see if anyone on here can help, so here goes....

The lady in question was in a relationship which has now ended. A few months ago she went to purchase a motorbike, but was refused finance for some reason or another, so the fella got the bike in his name & the £80 a month comes out of his bank account, but about a week before this happens, the girl's bank pays a direct debit/ standing order into his bank. The payment is ALWAYS there on time but he has now turned on her & insists thast the bike is his & he wants to take it off her, but the logbook etc is in HER name, so what is the score here, can he legally do this to her or is the bike hers coz all the paperwork etc is in her name?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as she is gutted that she might lose her pride & joy....cheers...

The legal title is hers. He would have to argue the benficial title is his. If he has accepted her payments, he is screwed.

Typical bird: she gets a bloke to pay for something, then takes it.

If she has someone on her side who can slug him, it's hers. She should probably poison him, to be sure.

not true i'm afraid.

she's the registered keeper. ownership is a differn't matter.

when you buy a ney motor on hp the registration docket is in your name, but it aint yours.

sounds like a job for the c a b to me.

Im confused

you said so the fella got the bike in his name

Then in the next paragrapgh you say it in her name

Two questions:

1) how much is the bike worth?

2) how much does her solicitor charge per hour?

Finance agreement is in his name, the log book has her name on it.

I do know that name on log book is irrelevant as that is just the keeper, not neccessarily the owner.

So we are agreed: it is definitely his, hers, or theirs. Or perhaps the finance company's. Tell her to see a lawyer.

A lawyer has told you the answer.
