How glad I am that I wasn't born around 1895. Poor bugars.

Fantastic.

For anyone who's interested in Sassoon, Pemberton Billing and what happened at Craiglockhart I'd highly reccomend Pat Barker's Regeneration Trilogy (Regeneration, The Eye in the Door and Ghost Road).. a truly wonderful read. :)

Thanks Paddy. had to smile at the story (poem) in The Wipers Times (so named because they couldn't spell Ypres )

In the middle of horror, people were enjoying the same jokes and stories they always had done.

3 Tommies sat in the trench one day, discussing the war in the normal way.

They talked of the mud, and they talked of the** of what was to do and what had been done, they talked about rum.

But the point that they argued, from post back to pillar, was whether Notts County would beat Aston Villa.
