Sainsbury's have now demolished the hundred year old livestock market and abattoir in my local small town (pop. 8,000) and are now starting to build.

Haven't heard anything about when it'll be up and running, but surprised they're doing this in such a small town. I wouldn't have thought there would be the kind of demand to make it a success, but I guess they know their stuff.

Just hope the town centre shops don't have to close, but I reckon some will.

8 miles to the next big supermarket. A lot of locals do drive to these stores to do their weekly shop. That's the market they're after.

I'm looking forward to it opening, but if it means that the local Co-op, Somerfields, fishmongers and butchers close, that wouldn't be good.

Currently building a Tesco superstore near mine. Have seen a few going up recently, generally take 4 to 6 weeks to go up from what I have seen. The one near mine is nearly done after a month. They have been trying to get planning permission for 10 years and finally got it a few months ago.
