Unless the Championship welcome Celtic and Rangers, Scotland is Finnish.

don't come near edinburgh for shops, its rubbish. glasgow's the place to do xmas shopping.
By:
xmas shopping in glasgow can be a bit stressful, very packed it can get
but if you're staying near Aberdeen, then dundee is the best bet |
By:
Glasgow best for shops, but as others have said will be fecking mental, and also a fair way from where you are. Edinburgh probably best for posh hotels and general wandering about, but apparently less good fer the shopping. Dundee rank rotten but close!

ah, just read OP properly...you mentioned a night out too? I think if you're going for more of the fun than the shops go to edinburgh definitely - great places to eat, stay, drink etc, and very compact so no fannying around.

call in at the house of Bruar on the A9 about 30 miles north of perth well worth a visit.
By:
Aberdeen your best bet two decent 5* hotels to consider are Marcliffe on Deeside Road or Cults hotel at Cults about 3.5 miles from town centre, enjoy
By:
Edinburgh by a mile - the Gyle centre outstanding. And some great pubs in Rose Street. (Runs parallel to Princes Street.)
By:
The Barrows in Glasgow is good for a wander around on a Sunday.
