corned beef has the word beef in it because......
Sadly a beef product can have any part of a cow (beef), heart ,tongue, etc the label is clear. Is the label clear, the FSA thinks it is :_| |

Being serious for a minute....
"Corned beef is made from brisket, a relatively inexpensive cut of beef. The meat goes through a long curing process using large grains of rock salt, or “corns” of salt, and a brine. It's then slowly cooked, turning a tough cut of beef into one that's super tender and flavorful". |

Oh bodil, where art thou??
![]() bodil, do you work in the corning industry? No, normally I club questioners to death for a living. This thread reminds me of how eccentric and brilliant he was. I wish I knew what happened to him, was he banned? |

To add to LFV's post, My butcher sells Corned Beef; He does not make it himself and the source is a secret but it is made from Brisket and in the UK. He is a proper butcher (and grazier) though, and makes his own Salt Beef (from Brisket), smokes his own bacon and makes his own Black Pudding which is to die for.

If you watch too much Man v Food you will see that American corned beef is not remotely like UK corned beef.
