Thank you all. This is also the first time I got the news via text message.
Was the first thing I saw when I got home (I forgot my phone today and was thinking about him all day) |

Yep always good to have happy memories. I will never forget the last day I spent with my friend nick. Went to visit my dog in cheltenham he picked me up from the station and dropped me back off later on. We had a nice steak meal in a pub all paid for by the trainer. I wander how many dog trainers do that for their owners. Carl Hopkins a true kind man. Nick Hill will be forever missed by me.

I am sorry to hear of your loss parachute. I am sure your memories will sustain you as the years pass.
Even in this day and age, it doesn't really seem approprite to use a text message for such sad news. |
|
By:
Fenway you are kind. However maybe it was apprpriate.
my last conversations with dick were by text. I could text him without waking him if he was sleeping and for once I was too. His last message is on my phone. |

Sorry to hear of your loss Parachute.
The older we get the more friends we lose, until it's our turn to go. |
|

"I saw him twice after he was meant to have died. Both occasions in our favourite pub garden, full of people glad to be there among friends.
Those two evenings are still the happiest of my year." did you take pics? maybe you dont need to in order to remember but would be nice. hang on the the good times para. |

I have a lovely photo of the gang. It is safe as in if anyone wants it it is there |

If I thought long and hard, I could probably name 500 people, works colleagues, neighbours, aquaintancies, family, pub mates, that I have conversed with and known who are no longer here.
Now there's a thought, and not a very pleasant one, as Blackadder once said. |

Sorry to hear your news, parachute. I am sure your memories of the good times you spent together will help you get through this very difficult period.
I know it sounds cliched rubbish, but I'm sure he'd want you to celebrate his life. All the best. |

Very bad news but the memories do mellow, then instead of bringing sorrow they will bring smiles.

Wow
I'm going to my friend Rob's funeral tomorrow. Worked all his life (RAF Technician through to running his own Business Development consultancy). Made it to his late 50's - about the time when you're thinking of retring and spending the kids inheritance for the next 25 years - then was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January. Fought it like a lion through to Monday last week and that was it - 6 months longer than expected but it still got him in the end. It's always the good ones too. |

Thanks Crags and Facts ,I swear ,he bet Carlingford Lough when it won at 20s 2 months Back, I wasn't with him at the Time ,But said HTF did you get that home ? it traded at 1000 on bf ,He said you know I always bet it
He bet it Ew Gold Cup ran a stormer Came 4th .All aboard for the national , Non Runner , ,he couldn't watch the GN was too ill but he could here the comms .. I've not looked at the Punchestown races or much else this this week ,Missed the Lough winning at 12 ![]() My Mrs is devastated ,we were all together when he was told it was terminal last August, I would estimate he weighed 12/13 stone at this Point, Had been a stone or so heavier Previous ,I doubt very much he weighed 6 stone on leaving us ,I have sadly known other cancer victims ,but with this stomach business you basically starve to death ,unless it spreads.Peoples families who have to go through this It beggars belief ... I wont ramble but at least it looks like he is trying sort out the punting angle Should be a thread on the forum regarding Cancer ,people could post and we could help each other preferably at an earlier Stage Once again thanks for your replies .. |
