Will the police have a record of this incident (not me btw).
It was for criminal damage if the seriousness helps
Also are fines for not having a valid MOT kept on police record (this was me btw).
I said to my friend that the police are likely to keep a record of both incidents no matter how long ago.
Anyone know the answer

if its recent they most definitley 100% will as they will have taken a DNA swap upon the arrest for the criminal damage charge.Unless it was just a "chat"

If your friend was not charged and it was 12 years ago there wont be a record because the custody records get binned after 7 years. There will also be no record of the MOT because its simply a motoring offence which the court would have a record but not the police, DVLA wont even have a record because its non endorsable. HTH

It be pretty certain it wouldnt be on any reord but what could an arrest without charge bother anyone 12 yrs down the line for anyway?
I think you have to write to your local force or wherre u got nicked to find out if they have anyhting on you on file.Becuse a standard diclosure shows jack and even the data protection people are useless. I had to find if a football offence was wiped from 12 yrs ago.Oddly 2 weeks in a french jail and nothing whatsoever on my files about it yet an arrest without charge for some fight was still on the file.Though it was over 10 yrs ago so i got it removed under the rehab of offenders. act |

You don't say why you want to know about this. None of my (or anyone's biz, I suppose) but there are a number of reasons you might be asking. one of them might be that you want to apply to join the cops. IF that's the case, then best to mention it. If not, all but the most serious crimes are covered under the Rehab of offenders act and will become time-barred in due course.

I would love to have joined the police but the pay not brilliant and I dont like the attitude of many police.
No I asked as I may need to go through some very thorough checks over the next six months, I dont want to go into detail on the forum. |

no real record kept, except the police have "flags" next to your name. ie, known for xxxx
this is why police officers will always ask you "have ever been in trouble with the police" as opposed to "do you have a criminal record". For one they are not allowed to ask you about anything that is spent or was not a conviction. If you get asked this question then always answer with "I have never found the police to be any trouble". If you were routinely pulled they may pay a little more attention to your documents etc that is all. The do not need to declare it on any forms, I'm 99% sure. MOD official secrets forms wouldn't anyway, and that is as detailed as most people will ever complete. |
