Apparently Laddies are 3's, I'm shocked it's as big as that.

If I have my fiver with Laddies that should be enough for them to cut it and bring them in line with meGrin

odds on it will be an irish winner

Well yes, because there will likely be 18-20 Irish winners. But if a horse is DQd it hasn't won, the jockey has cheated.

Best hope that Patrick doesn't have to get into a ding dong battle up the hill because if that happens it will probably be him.Shocked

Whenever we talk about favourite rides at the festival I always nominate Johnson's ride on Flagship Uberalles, not one of the dazzling performances but because he had to be at the horse from the word go and practically had to carry the horse over the line in the end.

I just watched it back just to count the strikes, there was at least 14 that I could see so he'd have been out all day long,

I then thought about Hardy Eustace and Harchibald, Hardy got at least 13 smacks and Harchibald got 1, so history would have been changed then too, but it also brings into question as to whether Hardy would have kept going as he did if it was largely hands and heels from the jockey? how many other great rides would have been consigned to the dustbin if what exists now.... did then?? but, how many would have still seen the same result regardless?

Going forward if you're on a horse next week that typically isn't the smoothest traveller and that requires the jockey to be always keeping him up to his work, aren't you at a disadvantage from the off.

Wichita Lineman got at least 17 that were in camera shot, so that would have been 20+ in actuality.

It will be interesting and quite revealing because there will be instances where we will see if the type of winner that Wichita Lineman was... CAN still happen, the often debated argument about whether the response factor from the horse to the whip is a real thing or not and whether the horse would still do what he does under simply strong driving will be tested to some degree next week.

If we see a horse come from a ways back to prevail under strong driving and limited stick use it will be held up against whip use still further I think with quite a bit of "See, the horse responds anyway"

strontium ..... that includes native rivers gold cup then ?
Report strontium March 9, 2023 10:05 AM GMT
Obviously not, because the rules were different when that race was run.
