For once I need the above badly. For whatever reason I'd not get enthusiastic about the event this year apart from hoping and anticipating a behemoth performance from Constitution Hill that could "equal" the best eg See You Then, Dawn Run, Istabraq and For Auction.

Hi Jimnast , hope your well. Ironically was thinking about for auctions win earlier today. Still cant get me head around how that won!!! Having backed Broadsword(went to Nottingham to see him dot up in City Trial Hurdle under top weight) & was a great fan of Ekbalco (who gave winner around 20lbs in Schweppes) & waltzed past him.  Wasnt even a close run thing think he won by 5 or 6 lengths.
Its probably time i got over IT!!!!LaughLaughLaugh

In the past I was never a fan of the Champion Hurdle and probably not had a bet most of the time, not even See You Then or Istabraq. But, I did back Dawn Run merely because she was a mare, and Brownes Gazette (Dickinson); Dawn Run also won the Blue Riband race too - the race of the entire Festival for me. I backed For Auction because 7 was my house number then.

Hello Geoff I’m well thank you and I hope you are to

I was also a big fan of ekbalco, and of course rated broadsword very highly I think the bad ground was the reason for the result,it hurt me more as I had backed for auction for the 1981 Schweppes at Newbury at decent price only for the race not to go ahead due to weather can’t remember what weight he had but to win a champion hurdle 13 months later I should think he would have gone close,

Does anyone know if for auction ended up at middleham with George Moore I know fredcotari did just not sure about for auction.

I'm going into this years Festival betting battle with a with a feeling of nervous trepidation. Constitution Hill apart, there are plenty of short priced favourites that can be taken on. i.e. Gaillard Du Mesnil, Gerri Colombe, Shishkin, Lossiemouth, Galopin Des Champs, Vaucelet, Allegorie De Vassy, Impervious all look short enough to me. Of course really need to wait until field sizes crystallise. I'm taking on Galopin Des Champs 13/8 with A Plus Tard 7/1 nrnb in the expectation Henry De Bromhead has him fit enough on the day or won't run him.

On form prior to last season eg Champion Chase Shishkin will be a cert in the Ryanair more so with the absence of Allaho post his recent win. Only the issue with his nerve and Hendo's "talkative" waffle allowed him to start odds against some clowns last time; A Plus Tard is the value bet (if - big IF - his predicament prior and post Betfair Chase are sorted. Otherwise I'll consider Galopin Des Champs a good thing. Apart from Constitution Hill the other favs can be taken on I think.

But, I cannot wait for the Champion Hurdle to be run, and the onset of the Flat again.
