I have been trying to contact Matt Chapman to tell him that Vauban, that he fancies for the Champion Hurdle has the Triumph Hurdle hoodoo hanging over him. Since 1967 only TWO Triumph Hurdle winners have gone on the next year and WON the Champion Hurdle,i believe those are the facts. Having said that, the Triumph Hurdle is not the race it was,now less competitive,so maybe it will change. But it is one hell of a stat to overcome!!!!!.He will need the race run at a breakneck speed so that the pace collapses when they hit the hill so that he can pick them off. Nobody seems to know a lot about anything these days.About as much chance of a winning 2 year old at Royal Ascot winning a Classic the following year!!!!!!.
1971 Mill Reef,Waterloo,Generous and Doctor Devious finished Second,Sayedatti won on the lesser Ascot Heath sat meet.Rock of Gibraltar badly hampered, Tender King finished 3rd in 2000 as i believe Dutch Art.Then Henry the Nav won the 2000 in a photo, then Dawn (Approach ?)in what was virtually a match race.

£2 max bet with 'billie' at even money for Constitution Hill despite £10 max in the advert. 'Sly' is even worse with only a £2 max refund (in the past £10) if backing a loser in the 1st at Cheltenham each day.

I hope Hendo withdraws him and does his backers on nrnb a big favour. I do not want the horse to start 2/1 or bugger given insiders will lay him till eternity. And, he'll probably not run up to his true potential.

He is on a course of anti biotics for probably 5-7 days and the problem with them is they dont only kill all the bad bacteria but they also kill the good bacteria as well so he will be having probiotics afterwards and its wether he has enough time to bring the horse back into form.

Both I'd presume unless Mr Mullins puts the brake on Lossiemouth; Elliot will certainly give it a go. How often a trainer or owner be presented with an opportunity as good as Constitution Hill - the cert - giving them a freebie?

State Man may win without Constitution Hill but he was only 4l superior than Zanahiyr (3rd) last year; Irish Point and Lossiemouth are smaller prices than Zanahiyr here.

Irish Point may run, they've got Teahupoo for the stayers anyhow, Lossiemouth won't be running though, why give up what they already think is a good thing to play second fiddle to their own horse, different owners or not, plus Mullins has a fundamental belief against throwing her in the deep end at this stage of her career.
If CH runs Hendo will be confirming himself as the biggest hypocrite in the game, I'd be staggered if he runs.

Well, because all we've had from Henderson is ultra caution with even the slightest thing not being right, enough for the horse not to run, even at some points citing that the welfare of the horse would be at risk should he participate.
Yet here we are, it is established that the horse is "ill" that requires medication to correct, is a mere two weeks away from the biggest race of its life, which even if the illness was corrected surely couldn't possibly leave enough time for the horse to be back to A1 and yet the horse is still a runner at this stage, this in itself is completely contrary to what we have always gotten from Henderson, even though we seem to be edging closer to the inevitable.

I'd tend to agree with 'duffy' CH is more likely to be an absentee than taking part. Personally, I'd not want him to run if he'd not have at least 5 days of rest post overcoming this "cold". This race is a week on tuesday meaning a week today CH must have fully recovered and possibly have his 1st piece of serious work eg gallop.
Otherwise, scratch him for the nrnb backers. Then go to Punchestown and duel with State Man or Irish Point in the Irish version. And, forget Aintree.

I'd not want him there if he's 85/90%. I do not want the horse to be rushed and beaten; I'd like him annihilating State Man and Company. Otherwise, a trip to Punchestown would be more preferable for CH; jump season is not all about Cheltenham.

He would not risk running him if things were not right in the early part of the season because the Champion Hurdle is the target. Obviously things are different now. I do not see that as hypocrisy. But he will not risk running him if he is not A1 on the 12th March. Today's update does not sound positive.

I couldn't see him running at Aintree off the back of this even with the extra time because when he ran in it last year the mood afterwards felt almost like a defeat with the extra distance not really looking like it suited him, they'd be scared of something making it a real test after a period when he'd been under the weather and putting him through the ringer, and by the same token with the ghosts of what happened to SS after Ireland I can't see him travelling over there either.
If he doesn't run at the festival I think the next time we'll see him will be Newcastle in November.

CH has done Aintree, and going to the backyard of Irish Racing and sock it to State Man and his Irish cousins is the least he'd do for Jump Racing if missing Cheltenham, I'd have thought.
CH needs to duel with State Man at least once per season, and no better place than Punchestown - in the latter's backyard. Afterall Hendo teased jump racing fans about Punchestown post last Cheltenham 'walk-in-the-park' victory.

I do not want Newcastle in November. I'd rather he goes to an "enterprising" trainer or over fences unless connections felt 20f was stretching his stamina to breaking point at Aintree last season. The 3rd option would be retirement.

Hendo has fecked up again Dont tell me Shiskin didnt show his character weakness previously at home Hendo does it year in year out , saving them for the big one and it doesn't work out Meanwhile Willie runs them time after time in Grade ones and somehow turns up every year at Cheltenham with them

By not running Constitution Hill at the rearranged Fighting Fifth has caused him to catch this viru It is not the first time a major name has missed the festival.

He's probably caught the virus due to being wrapped up in so much cotton wool that the poor s0d hasn't been able to build up a resistance to everyday germs like the rest of us

wrapping him up would only work if he is in quarantine from the rest of the yard all the time. If he went in a box with others for a gallop then that would be as big a risk as racing.
