I have been trying to contact Matt Chapman to tell him that Vauban, that he fancies for the Champion Hurdle has the Triumph Hurdle hoodoo hanging over him.
Since 1967 only TWO Triumph Hurdle winners have gone on the next year and WON the Champion Hurdle,i believe those are the facts.
Having said that, the Triumph Hurdle is not the race it was,now less competitive,so maybe it will change. But it is one hell of a stat to overcome!!!!!.He will need the race run at a breakneck speed so that the pace collapses when they hit the hill so that he can pick them off.
Nobody seems to know a lot about anything these days.About as much chance of a winning 2 year old at Royal Ascot winning a Classic the following year!!!!!!.

1971 Mill Reef,Waterloo,Generous and Doctor Devious finished Second,Sayedatti won on the lesser Ascot Heath sat meet.Rock of Gibraltar badly hampered, Tender King finished 3rd in 2000 as i believe Dutch Art.Then Henry the Nav won the 2000 in a photo, then Dawn (Approach ?)in what was virtually a match race.

£2 max bet with 'billie' at even money for Constitution Hill despite £10 max in the advert. 'Sly' is even worse with only a £2 max refund (in the past £10) if backing a loser in the 1st at Cheltenham each day.

Constitution Hill is best price at 6/4 for 2024. I think it's a stonking price on what he showed earlier. Most are odds-on.
Report Mister Westsound February 27, 2024 12:19 PM GMT
C Hill a doubt ???!!!???
Report Mister Westsound February 27, 2024 12:21 PM GMT
3.1 and drifting', bad scope apparently. Real or a "Binocular" ?
Report strontium February 27, 2024 12:52 PM GMT
You're surely not suggesting that Henderson is doing a Henderson?
Report Autocue February 27, 2024 2:20 PM GMT
I hope it doesn’t run as it would serve the wimps right but more likely to be a binocular special as the stable staff need their bonus.
Report impossible123 February 28, 2024 6:48 PM GMT
I hope Hendo withdraws him and does his backers on nrnb a big favour. I do not want the horse to start 2/1 or bugger given insiders will lay him till eternity. And, he'll probably not run up to his true potential.
Report impossible123 February 28, 2024 6:59 PM GMT
Sorry, I meant "bigger" (typo error). I do not want State Man to beat a sick Constitution Hill and win the event.
Report brandyontherocks February 28, 2024 8:04 PM GMT
Bizarre
Report CROPSICK February 28, 2024 8:08 PM GMT
He is on a course of anti biotics for probably 5-7 days and the problem with them is they dont only kill all the bad bacteria but they also kill the good bacteria as well so he will be having probiotics afterwards and its wether he has enough time to bring the horse back into form.
Report impossible123 February 28, 2024 8:27 PM GMT
Constitution Hill could still beat State Man if 90% fit. He'll annihilate State Man if 100% fit again.
Report strontium February 28, 2024 9:13 PM GMT
If CH misses the race, what will switch here from other targets? Irish Point? Lossiemouth?
Report impossible123 February 28, 2024 9:23 PM GMT
Both I'd presume unless Mr Mullins puts the brake on Lossiemouth; Elliot will certainly give it a go. How often a trainer or owner be presented with an opportunity as good as Constitution Hill - the cert - giving them a freebie?
Report strontium February 28, 2024 9:27 PM GMT
Hardly a freebie against State Man, but yes, a lot easier.
Report impossible123 February 28, 2024 10:45 PM GMT
State Man may win without Constitution Hill but he was only 4l superior than Zanahiyr (3rd) last year; Irish Point and Lossiemouth are smaller prices than Zanahiyr here.
Report brandyontherocks February 28, 2024 10:47 PM GMT
Zanahiyr was ridden to come 3rd last year. State Man tried to win the race.
Report duffy February 29, 2024 5:01 AM GMT
Irish Point may run, they've got Teahupoo for the stayers anyhow, Lossiemouth won't be running though, why give up what they already think is a good thing to play second fiddle to their own horse, different owners or not, plus Mullins has a fundamental belief against throwing her in the deep end at this stage of her career.

If CH runs Hendo will be confirming himself as the biggest hypocrite in the game, I'd be staggered if he runs.
Report brandyontherocks February 29, 2024 5:44 AM GMT
Why the biggest hypocrite,  Duffy?
Report Hibore February 29, 2024 2:54 PM GMT
Henderson allowing press and TV into Seven Barrows to discuss CH. Doubt you’d get that from many other trainers. Very refreshing.
Report duffy February 29, 2024 3:08 PM GMT
Well, because all we've had from Henderson is ultra caution with even the slightest thing not being right, enough for the horse not to run, even at some points citing that the welfare of the horse would be at risk should he participate.

Yet here we are, it is established that the horse is "ill" that requires medication to correct, is a mere two weeks away from the biggest race of its life, which even if the illness was corrected surely couldn't possibly leave enough time for the horse to be back to A1 and yet the horse is still a runner at this stage, this in itself is completely contrary to what we have always gotten from Henderson, even though we seem to be edging closer to the inevitable.
Report impossible123 February 29, 2024 3:22 PM GMT
I'd tend to agree with 'duffy' CH is more likely to be an absentee than taking part. Personally, I'd not want him to run if he'd not have at least 5 days of rest post overcoming this "cold". This race is a week on tuesday meaning a week today CH must have fully recovered and possibly have his 1st piece of serious work eg gallop.

Otherwise, scratch him for the nrnb backers. Then go to Punchestown and duel with State Man or Irish Point in the Irish version. And, forget Aintree.
Report Hibore February 29, 2024 3:22 PM GMT
I’d agree if it was Tingle Creeks or Christmas Hurdles. He definitely tries to get his Cheltenham horses there if he can.
Report impossible123 February 29, 2024 3:39 PM GMT
I'd not want him there if he's 85/90%. I do not want the horse to be rushed and beaten; I'd like him annihilating State Man and Company. Otherwise, a trip to Punchestown would be more preferable for CH; jump season is not all about Cheltenham.
Report brandyontherocks February 29, 2024 3:43 PM GMT
He would not risk running him if things were not right in the early part of the season because the Champion Hurdle is the target.
Obviously things are different now.
I do not see that as hypocrisy.
But he will not risk running him if he is not A1 on the 12th March.
Today's update does not sound positive.
Report sageform February 29, 2024 3:53 PM GMT
Aintree Hurdle would seem the logical target if he recovers quickly. Surely stays 2.5 round there.
Report duffy February 29, 2024 4:07 PM GMT
I couldn't see him running at Aintree off the back of this even with the extra time because when he ran in it last year the mood afterwards felt almost like a defeat with the extra distance not really looking like it suited him, they'd be scared of something making it a real test after a period when he'd been under the weather and putting him through the ringer, and by the same token with the ghosts of what happened to SS after Ireland I can't see him travelling over there either.

If he doesn't run at the festival I think the next time we'll see him will be Newcastle in November.
Report impossible123 February 29, 2024 4:15 PM GMT
CH has done Aintree, and going to the backyard of Irish Racing and sock it to State Man and his Irish cousins is the least he'd do for Jump Racing if missing Cheltenham, I'd have thought.

CH needs to duel with State Man at least once per season, and no better place than Punchestown - in the latter's backyard. Afterall Hendo teased jump racing fans about Punchestown post last Cheltenham 'walk-in-the-park' victory.
Report impossible123 February 29, 2024 4:22 PM GMT
I do not want Newcastle in November. I'd rather he goes to an "enterprising" trainer or over fences unless connections felt 20f was stretching his stamina to breaking point at Aintree last season. The 3rd option would be retirement.
Report strontium February 29, 2024 7:25 PM GMT
Slightly drastic to retire the horse because he's got a cold.
Report irishone February 29, 2024 7:50 PM GMT
Hendo has fecked up again
Dont tell me Shiskin didnt show his character weakness previously at home
Hendo does it year in year out , saving them for the big one and it doesn't work out
Meanwhile Willie runs them time after time in Grade ones and somehow turns up every year at  Cheltenham with them
Report strontium February 29, 2024 8:12 PM GMT
Willie has injured horses, same as anybody else. He just has so many top horses he can cover for them in a way nobody else can.

By not running Constitution Hill at the rearranged Fighting Fifth has caused him to catch this viruLaugh

Virus
Report duffy March 1, 2024 5:24 AM GMT
He's probably caught the virus due to being wrapped up in so much cotton wool that the poor s0d hasn't been able to build up a resistance to everyday germs like the rest of usTongue Out
Report LoyalHoncho March 1, 2024 2:02 PM GMT
Oh no.  Herd immunity.  That dreadful epithet forever associated with the virus.
Report sageform March 1, 2024 5:16 PM GMT
wrapping him up would only work if he is in quarantine from the rest of the yard all the time. If he went in a box with others for a gallop then that would be as big a risk as racing.
Report Fashion Fever March 3, 2024 11:15 PM GMT
can hendo still declare  if its marginal decision and give them a few extra days, and we still know till down at the start ?
Report irishone March 4, 2024 7:22 AM GMT
time after time hendo does this
either he is a sh1t trainer
or he is working for the bookies
Report impossible123 March 4, 2024 5:13 PM GMT
Hendo's sponsored by a sh1t bookie. And, he's form eg Binocular, I think. A miraculous recovery a 2nd time?
