Honeysuckle for the Champion Hurdle for one and I expect that Shishkin would have been on many short lists for the Champion Chase in September. Facile Vega does not look a good thing any longer.

I have to agree with Sage on this one, although bites the dust maybe a bit strong. Quite a few short priced favs have performed badly, like Facile Vega, Jon Bon, Energumene and Lossiemouth.

A bit harsh to say any of Jonbon, Energumene and Lossiemouth performed "badly", especially the latter.

If Shishkin can recapture his form prior to his last Champion Chase run and wins the Ascot Chase this saturday he'd be odds-on for this, I believe. But, it's a big if!

Was Shiskin's earlier form really that good, in retrospect? He beat Energumene at Ascot, which maybe doesn't look as good now as it did then. Before that, he beat Grenateen in conditions that wouldn't suit that one at all. As a novice, I don't think he beat anything one would describe as top drawer.

It doesn't feel right but 5/4 must be right because even at that price I couldn't oppose him because there is absolutely nothing else in that race that I could even think has a remote chance of being a runner for me...it's just horrible...Blue Lord 5/1...Fury Road...11/2!!!

That is what I thought Duffy. I can't back anything ante post at that price but on the day, even money will be a gimme if the vibes coming from the yard are as good as they were on Saturday. I had already backed Pic Dory but when Shishkin went favourite I knew they had him right. That does not always work of course but I can't remember such suppressed confidence and excitement from connections apart from Constitution Hill.

correct buut a nonner looses you the whole grand ........up too the individual but stone bruises etc .even a change of going and a runner be comes a nonner ! for the sake of £125 id go with nrnb !

Nrnb makes it the case that you might as well wait until the day when bookies compete for the millions bet and offer better odds in the morning than nrnb best prices are now

I’ve had 46 NRNB bets over the last couple of months. 7 bets are waiting to be refunded (Conflated Ryanair for example).
Agree most shorties (virtually all horses under 5/1) are pointless backing now as will be bigger on day but if you are looking at the handicaps there are/were some cracking value bets out there. Some are still there and will be for at least a few days when the final weights are published. |

Each to their own. I have had about 5 ante post bets on Cheltenham and laid off 4 of them at lower prices. I might back them again on the day. The other one is Paisley Park who has doubled in price so I have to stand that and accept the loss-unless he wins.

I’ve only backed 8 horses. Just backed them all multiple times if I thought the odds were incorrect if they turned up n that race. I might lay some off like you sage nearer the time and have a free roll.

25 left , shortest price 10s , some have been added to with nrnb . Best result was getting out of Fanion Destruval at a profit after appalling Newbury run , thanks Allaho !

ive backed loads as well,,best ones were last march,,,still little bits of value in hcaps ...dont like there mainly top5 1/5 at this stage tho...another dodge from the layers

Allaho is 7/2 (best) for a repeat after winning a 3-runner "soft" race at Clonmel earlier today; his 1st back post an injury after 561 days off the track. He's 7/1 for X'mas King George. Any taker for either race?

The comeback didn't feel like he was the same old Allaho, and that's before you throw in Walsh desperately wiggling about aboard Janidil trying to make it look like he was putting his horse under pressure to close.
