A friend's wife has just tested positive for Covid.

Do you think he will be okay to go to Cheltenham all week, or should he stay at home?

(He's tested negative)

Stay at home and nurse his poor sick wife, or go to the main NH meeting of the whole season?
If he stays home he will probably catch it too.
If he goes to the Festival he'll be out in the open air where it's known to be safer.

I think he has to stay home. Family comes first.

Ha, seriously though, he should be alright to attend?

Seriously? OK, yeah, I think he's all right. The rules change so much, but Im pretty sure he's allowed to go.

Current government advice (as updated last Monday) is at (scroll down for close contacts)

If he goes, he should consider wearing a mask to protect others, and not joining in the roar.

One thing not mentioned, I think, is the effect on his missus. For some people, this Omicron variant Covid is like a minor sniffle; for others, three days stuck in bed. If it's the latter, he should pay someone to go round and take care of his good lady.
