I don't profess to know the mindset of Gordon Elliott, but if this horse was mine, I'd want to run in the Triumph and not the Boodles. On RPR ratings, he is within around 5lbs of the ones at the top of the market and could make that up. He did not debut over hurdles until the 17th January and has run well in 2 graded hurdles since. I thought it strange that Elliott ran him in the Red Mills Trial race at Gowran the last time on heavy. Surely, not to get a decent handicap mark? Also, by running in the Triumph, he will get an extra 3 days to recover. At time of writing, he can be backed at 180 on Betfair (win only), 33/1 NRNB with the bookies, cracking EW value first 3. If it's decided to run in the Boodles instead, betting stakes with the bookmakers will be refunded.
Ignore this if it costs a 150/1 winner but I look at TTT's form the other way round, which is that the Dublin Racing Festival race Vauban - Fil Dor - The Tide Turns has been overrated.
Therefore, in the spirit of Anglo-Irish friendship and hatred of the Prestbury Cup, I shall be backing the Irish horse with the British form, Pied Piper.

And its sometimes easier to give a not too obvious ' school ' in a better class race and not attract attention . As reaction is often , ' not up to the class ' .

Thanks for your comments, all. You get some years when there are no superstars lurking, I believe this season is one. You'd be sitting pretty if you 'd have backed Pied Piper before it won at Cheltenham, but otherwise, not much in the 4yo dept. I would rather the 33/1 NRNB each way The Tide Turns, than, say 14/1 on Icare Allen who has come through the National Hunt ranks. I don't believe he'd be quick enough. Add to this there will only 18 runners on the day. It is not the cavalry charge it used to be, hence the bookmakers pay out first 3 these days, whereas it used to be the only non handicap in the Racing calendar to pay out first 4.

Hey Ali great minds think alike, I’m on at similar prices for tbf triumph, although have much more on it the boodles.
No offers were up earlier for this in the lay box in the boodles, so I was hoping they’d had a rethink. It’s drifted on the exchange since the official ratings were released which is understandable.

Cheers EB1. Good luck with the punting and hope you draw on one of your bets. He could come second to the Mullins talking horse, Gaelic Warrior in the Boodles, who knows if it is a well weighted flying machine or not. I just think that thete'd be more kudos finishing placed in the Triumph than the Boodles. There is going to be plenty of dead wood in both races. Elliott could conceivably run 3 in the Triumph in an eighteen runner field, yet they'd be classy enough I feel to finish 1-2-3. What price that, I wonder?
