Cop out? You do realise the Naas race is a qualifier for the Final at Punchestown which is worth £75k? Makes perfect sense to run in this and give him that option imo. Think they are also hoping for softer ground at Naas.

The horse has only had one run over hurdles in his life, and looked plenty green enough last time. They have also mentioned being keen to run him on soft ground a few times too. So I think it makes perfect sense to go for this race to give him a bit more experience before pitching him into Grade One Company.
I'd say so brandy. The horse has only had one run over hurdles in his life, and looked plenty green enough last time. They have also mentioned being keen to run him on soft ground a few times too. So I think it makes perfect sense to go for this race
When a punter decides to back a horse ante-post for a particular race they obviously make a case for it running in that race, whether it be in their head, or on paper. It is not secret that I have had a very small bet on the horse for the Albert Bartlett. I have made the case for him running that race elsewhere, and don't need to do so again.
The original post on this thread was just logic. Presumably, they think he is a Grade 1 horse so running in a Grade 1 race over 2m6f should give them a very decent steer as to where to go next. That shouldn't be too difficult to understand. It is more logical than the reply which is just a guess. Why haven't you asked the above poster if he has backed the horse for the Ballymore? If De Bromhead thought it was more important to qualify the horse for that £75,000 race he could have easily have added a sentence.
And your point is? When a punter decides to back a horse ante-post for a particular race they obviously make a case for it running in that race, whether it be in their head, or on paper. It is not secret that I have had a very small bet on the horse
I've backed the horse at 25/1 for the AB. But think their plan is perfectly valid.
My point is your original assertion that this is some kind of cop out is nonsense. Plenty of time for the horse to run in Grade Ones.

Most owners and trainers are looking to maximise the income from the horse and if that is from first in a Grade 2 race at Kelso or Limerick rather than fourth in a Grade 1 at Cheltenham then that is their right. A few very wealthy owners want the glory of a Grade 1 race or a classic but most need to get some prize money from lesser venues. Paul Nicholls did not win a race over the weekend but still added about £15000 to his prizemoney in the championship.
