Republic of Ireland captain Seamus Coleman described the shock 1-0 World Cup qualifier defeat by Luxembourg as a "horrible and embarrassing night".
The Republic's World Cup hopes look now in tatters after two opening defeats and Coleman said the Irish "didn't deserve anything from the game". "We got what we deserved, which was nothing," said the Everton full-back. Coleman added: "It's a very embarrassing night for us as international players. "It is what it is. We got beaten 1-0 at home to Luxembourg. That's no disrespect to Luxembourg. |

England's home match against Germany was played on Saturday 7 October 2000, and was significant as it was the last international fixture ever to be played at the old Wembley Stadium, before it was demolished and rebuilt. England lost 1–0 to a German free kick scored by Dietmar Hamann. "It was the last refuge of the inadequate. Half-time neared, England were a goal down and a sizeable section of the crowd sullied the ever-dampening occasion. 'Stand up if you won the War,' they sang", wrote journalist Ian Ridley in his match report for The Observer.[23]

I think Mr Juncker had a word with Varadkar prior to the former's exit from Brussels. It went something like "hey lapdog, time to return a favour."

Struggling to understand what this thread has got to do with horses
Let alone the Cheltenham ....soon to be renamed St Patricks Festival.... Now with regards professionalism.....lets see... Irish winners: 23; British winners: 5 Leading trainer: Willie Mullins 6 (named champion trainer due to more second-place finishes); Henry de Bromhead 6; Denise Foster 3; Gavin Cromwell, Nicky Henderson 2 Leading jockey: Rachael Blackmore 6; Jack Kennedy 4; Paul Townend 3; Nico de Boinville 2 Now who's professional you muppets ? |

England show you how it’s done. Decent enough footy team, COVID under control, everyone over 50 Vaccinated in next week, owners back, crowds back to watch racing soon.
Makes you proud not to be told what to do by a bird in Brussels. |

Have Yis learned nothing ? It should be obvious to all that Kenny is getting the Republic handicapped for the Europeans.
Much too warm in Qatar anyway, us Paddies are not built for the heat. |

Qatar 1-1......you couldn’t make it up.
No wins in 11 games. Kenny's start the worst by Irish boss in 50 years - the best of the stats Stephen Kenny remains without a victory after 11 games in charge of the Republic of Ireland (D5 L6), the worst start by a manager with the Boys In Green since Mick Meagan, who failed to win any of his 12 games in charge between 1969 and 1971. Qatar are unbeaten in their last four games across all competitions, with this draw coming after victories over Bangladesh, Luxembourg and Azerbaijan. Prior to this, they had lost three and drawn one of their previous four. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
