Hi all. i am a newbie here but have followed the “plunge” over the last two years. Only for a few pounds but love the concept - move the bookies needle! Will happily follow any daily / multiples plunge.... but would not have enough experience to actively suggest a tip. Will previous guys kindly step up and motivate some fun :) ? Thanks in advance
i think a better scenario would be an each way acca with the emphasis of a forum plunge of say a score each way or £10 each way with 4 decent priced selections . 4 places is realistic and gives ya a good chance of a good return for a small stake ..........and always the outside chance of the jackpot 4 winners ! reach for the stars !.

probably the worst bet in the history of betting foyles?? an ew acca
why? because you can have 3 nice winners and only get payed on the place part of the bet, it's as bad, as an ew double when you nail both with one winning at a price and only get payed on the place double. a horrible bet imo
good luck as always

Not sure when you finalise this bet or how you decide how to frame it, however, given that the ground is currently soft / heavy and there is a strong likely hood it will remain that way until at least the start of the festival, given the long range forecast ( i accept these can be fanciful at best ) I would suggest that the Champion Hurdle looks a decent race to have an each way stab at and i like the looks of DARVER STAR currently best price 20/1 with 365 and 18s with Hills.
He appears to be still improving and although he is an 8yo, he has only raced 13 times ( 12 hurdles and 1 NHF ) has won 5 and been placed in 3.
His form is right up there with the very best in Ireland and I would expect him to relish this kind of test given that he gets the anticipated soft ground.
He went very close to winning when he raced against Honeysuckle at Leopardstown and that form alone makes him look overpriced.

Another horse to consider is SOVIET PIMPERNEL in the supreme generally available @ 33s.
Another Irish challenger who has been nibbled at in the ante post market and looks to be improving. Form not as strong as Darver Star but looks to be overpriced.

Just one more and I have no idea if this will run in the highlighted race ...... SPRINGFIELD FOX in the NATIONAL HUNT CHASE @ 50S. only available with sportsbook 40s / 33s elsewhere.
Former English permit holder John Needham, bred this stout grey gelding and sent him as an unraced 5-year-old to Declan Queally to point in Ireland last autumn. A horse with a long stride, he managed to complete a hat trick of wins inside two months: starting his sequence with an eight lengths win at Boulta(s) in December, then adding to his haul in winners grade at Aghabullogue(g/y) & Kilfeacle(s) in January: Bought by the George yard for a sum reported to be approx £130k:
His improvement in recent weeks has been staggering and he only made one small error when destroying an ok field at Exeter last week.
This price of 50s is ridiculous if he actually turns up ( again i think soft ground is essential).
Thats all folks !!!!!

john out of interest what makes you think darver wants soft ground? i was in the camp that felt he wanted good ground. interested on you're view on this considering his improvement has been on a sounder surface?

I think softer ground may hinder opponents more than him and i also think ideally he wants further, there4 the softer the ground the potential of a more stamina sapping event.

fair enough but think he wants it better myself, he hasn't got a lot to find and will be finishing, i just think he moves well but it isn't proven and he maybe ok, i haven't enough evidence in all fairness

I requested a horse to be added to the Sportsbook market on here last Tuesday for the Pertemps before it ran in the final Pertemps qualifier on Wednesday, surprisingly they put it in at 50's, needless to say I took some of that, it qualified but is rated 130 which wouldn't get it in, it has now been given an extra 2lbs by the Irish handicapper which helps, if the British handicapper adds another couple of pounds then I think it will get in as it is about 35th in the list on the 130 mark, so with horses going elsewhere etc allied to the extra couple pounds it would look promising.
It ran a very encouraging race after a year off, jumping was still a bit of an issue but the customary strong late finish from the back of the pack was in evidence after a run where it was clearly held up at the back but always responded when the jockey asked it to make a little ground before being repeatedly steadied again, as the race developed late on it swept right around the field and was ridden very much in the vein of a stereo typical just get qualified manner without worrying about winning, which, I was a little concerned with as I wanted it to get a guaranteed qualification by way of getting a nice push up the weights.
It's a previous festival winner, has a really good attitude, really sticks its neck out and you just have to think it is miles better than its mark, will love the new course with that long run between hurdles enabling it to come with its customary strong late run.
RELEGATE is the horse in question, aside from everything else it would be another nice Festival story it has the same owners but has left Mullins and been given to Colm Murphy, remember him?? the former festival multiple winning grade 1 trainer, away from the training ranks for a couple of years but now back and with a good horse here to go to war with.
It's too late to qualify for the "plunge" tag as she's down to 14's on here now (best priced 16's elsewhere) but is NRNB now, if she manages to get in she will be very close to being favourite on the day.
I can see a big momentum push toward her and will be very popular on the preview circuit as people recant her bumper win and encouraging strong late run in a grade 1 at the DRF last year coupled with her stand out mark.
Her mark in the low 130's stands out like a sore thumb, if she doesn't get in there will be a decent handicap for her off of that mark in the near future.

Foyle I haven't done the handicaps yet as weights not out till tomorrow so impossible for me to consider a water yet in that sphere. I think the markets are sucked of any life in the grade 1 races but I have backed a 20 poke who I believe is a 10 shot but I'm not interested in publishing my tips as don't like ramping and I honestly believe people will think I've been sniffing glue but anyway I've bet and will continue to as long as the price survives. You and will not like it though and rightly so

On average a horse must lose a stone when leaving Mullins yard in my opinion. I know Murphy did alright a while back, but surely it’ll need 12 months to go down the weights and then win at a lesser meeting? Even Elliot took a while to get the best out of ex Mullins horses when Giggingstown moved them over. If we all backed the same horse it would be pretty boring though!

Sadly I have to agree Foyles. Used to be a good place for discussion and debate, and still can be at times, but few and far between now, been gradually eroded away for some time now,and that seems to have speeded up this season.
