No thread so thought I’d start one. I’ve no great opinion on this race but think if your thinking of backing ROTS then 8/1 B356 NRNB is a must before Saturday. If he gives Cyrname a race and is beaten under a couple of lengths he could be 5/1 in a flash. If he wins (unlikely) then he could be 5/2. On the other side if he blows out in his first step in this quality of race they may keep him for Aintree and you get your money back.

Personally I think he’ll do better in a really true run race like Saturday’s will be and run encouragingly.

I did notice Skybet 9/1 last night is now 13/2. I think they were hit for six being NRNB as well.

No real opinion on ROTS yet, but I think A Plus Tard is a very worthy favourite for this.
A wide margin festival winner with a defeat of Chacun on his CV this season - albeit that one wasn't race fit.
Unoriginal, I know, but what's not to like? Not much juice in the price currently, I'd imagine he will be around the same on the day.

Interesting looking at Saturdays race and ROTS price. He's taking on the highest rated chaser in he world at his favourite track and is only 11/4.
Agreed Cyrname disappointed last time but there seems to be a disconnect between 11/4 in a race where he has 15lbs to find and a Ryanair at 8/1 which will cut up most likely where he may be only 6-7lbs wrong.

It's a small field on Saturday, he only really has the one horse to beat and if Cyrename tips up or is flat after his KG exertions, he's the likeliest winner.
There are plenty of horses he would have to beat to win a Ryanair.

I know that.
What I mean he is the only horse nobody has a handle on regarding ratings. I just thought 8/1 is very generous for a horse where a rating could be 160 or 170+.
APT is my idea of the Ryanair winner at the moment but I've thrown a few pennies on ROTS just in case.

I was very impressed with ROTS yesterday. The pace they went for the first two miles in that.ground was impressive, it was also obvious he would prefer to go left handed.

With only 3 other genuine contenders on form, APT, Min and Frodon he looks a good bet at 10/1 ew with Betfair. Min and Frodon don’t boast much better form this season and I think there are far worse bets at Cheltenham.

APT still looks head and shoulders the best bet and I’ve topped up the 11/4 NRNB with B356.

At the last ROTS looked beaten by the 50/1 rag yesterday. That's doubtful form. He'll need to settle better at Chelters.

i thought if the rag had stood up he would have won ,what is more concerning is the winner had a tough old race in that ground hunting up cyrname and 3 and half weeks to festival to recover

not saying it cant or wont win but not ideal so close to festival, anyone got any stats for horses running previous festivals  festival who have raced within a month ?

As STD said after the race he took Cyrname on down the back straight and started duelling with Janika just behind. On that ground and that speed your asking for trouble and STD admitted he had to do it or Cyrname would have sprinted away in the straight.
Fluide has stamina and was kept well out of it....and would likely have gone close against whoever was in the lead. Even Cyrname.

As I said above I’m on APT but think ROTS hasn’t got the accolades he should.

Recovering after such a gruelling race is a big worry though and I agree they may swerve Cheltenham.

Foyles, Gaultstats does a pretty good job rave by race of recency of latest run.  Also, he is ruddy hilarious.  Willie Mullins is forever doing for his cherished 'stats'. The best (now killed by Willie, used to be "no sire has ever had more than one winner of the festival bumper" Laugh

And to the op, Hibore, I have been puzzling over yesterdays result.  APT is the one to bea, but ROTS looks to be improving fast, and looked to me to hate the ground.  He has loads of tactical pace and may be helped un settling by a good championship pace.  Bit worried about his exuberant jumping at the downhill fences (my impression is as many overpitch and knuckle as get too low at the 3rd last, albeit not as bad as it used to be) but I think he is a real star who may well go close.  I took a bit of 10s after Saturday's race, spent a while wondering if that was foolish, but am quite happy to have him on my side.  He is surely a 6 or 7 to one shot, so I think it was value, but I won more than my stake for Cheltenham backing him on Saturday so I was punting with 'their' money.

FWIW deapote Geezer Moore's comments I rhink ROTS would have been second, but he took Cyrname on early enough in conditions that didn't really suit.

I dont think Saturday would have done him any favours re Cheltenham.
Dont think it did any of them that ran any favours to be honest.
Could have lost two horses in a field of four!!

Aftertiming = When a person claims to be on the good side of a bet or prediction after the result without proving any evidence before or during the event.

I am not claiming to be on the good side of a bet or prediction after the result though am I ?

You wont get better guessing than that up there souldancer.....

It's aftertiming, you know it, I know it and so does everyone else.

Calling those who posted before the race as guessers your elevating yourself above them.

If you'd posted the same comments pre-race you might have earned some respect...but you don't.

back to the original thread,it was still a good way out when he fell but riders onthe storm looked like he was in the process of running a decent race despite some average jumping

Have you read the posts ?
Doesnt matter if the horse came last or first.
They were guessing, and it was quality guessing because of the bow lox which was there before the race that was being put up.

What was Rots 153 rated at the start of the season? How much did min and frodon lose in the season ...high 160s  ? A pound between them ? The highest rated horse in the world ?

They were guessing only one person came on and said he might fall, other than that it was one of those dreams that we can finally put to bed ....one of the biggest talking horses in the past 25 years ....pmsl..... Recommended at 8/1 nrnb goes off at 11\1 on the day.

As i said guessing ....

Plenty of his backers on the other thread suggesting they were unlucky and that he would have gone very close but for the fall - wouldn’t have been within 5l of the front 3 imo.
