Owes them nothing, Don't see the point in carrying on myself but Ricci pays the bills so he calls the shots.

I know your probably right gutfeeling but along with Douvan who may also run this weekend he will put a few on the gate plenty of other horses run older than him so why not if the horse is well.

I though The Riccis love their horses so why the heck run Faugheen (over fences now) and Douvan (after a series of setbacks)? They would not run them in prestigious races when they were sound eg Faugheen (Chase) and Douvan (Champion Hurdle). I think the only and appropriate decision is to retire them both when they can no longer perform to the high standard they once were associated with.

Just got in from work, and I heard O'Brien say he was still buzzing after watching Faugheen.
Was the performance really good? How was the jumping?

Goffs Land Rover graduate & nine-time Grade 1 winner made his successful debut over fences - but it was far from straight forward - but got the job done - super recovery from Townend after that blunder at the ditch. The 8/11 odds-on fav hit 8/1 in running after some poor fencing but the engine is still there as he was powering away clear from the last. “He was brilliant over the first half dozen until he made that mistake – it was probably the first ditch that he’d seen! (in a long while) - Paul said he just put down and tried to do what he does over hurdles which is gallop out through it." WPM.

Cheers Catch, sounds like his jumping was a tad iffy at times

Just that ditch tbh - last time he was over one, was in his 2012 Pt-to-Pt win (for Andrew Slattery/Roger Quinlan) in Ballysteen.

The one thing for sure this horse creates a lot of interest, front page of the post today, yesterday they shown the race on the big screen at Cheltenham many race goers watched it wasn’t the strongest of races yesterday despite the big field but at least he shown he is ok.

We all watched yesterday and it was good to see the old boy win (seems strange calling Faugheen old), but I don't really see the point of sending him over fences at this stage of his career given the risk, even though he is actually quite lightly raced for an 11yo.
