So the annual 'getting out of the sh1t' tactic has switched from backing Hendo's hotpot, to backing Gordon's dark un........
Doesn't feel any easier! |

Seems crazy to end the festival on one of the worst races. very poor.

Helps clear the car park.
My nap of the festival is that there will also be a stewards, to further thin the crowds. |

With the Grand Annual's recent record in mind I'm not sure that moving it away from the last race of the day where racegoers would otherwise be leaving the course is too good an idea.

To be honest Duffy both races are equally as difficult I think the Friday has a long tail when the bumper was first ran it was the last race of the meeting I would like to see that again,if it’s just regarding getting people to leave the course before the last then the cross country would do the trick.

I was thinking in terms of horse fatalities, there was 3 in the Grand Annual last year.

I wish they would finally settle on something and just leave it.
It appears that some people want to justify their existence by tinkering for the sake of it. They have already reduced the number of runners in the Grand Annual. It is a dangerous sport and you will get fatalities. It is impossible to eliminate them. Will moving a fence a few yards make a difference? Surely they should have tried it before the Festival? If they really want to look at races being moved I would seriously look at moving the Cross Country and Foxhunters to the April meeting. One has always been low on quality and the other is clearly not the race of old. |

I think it was best when they finished with the County, a fantastic race in its own right, and a race that has produced some championship quality horses.
Finishes the festival on a high and leaves you thinking of horses that may step up the following year. |

I remember when they finished with the Cathcart could have been a 5 or 6 runner race

equine,
Ithought that when Rooster Booster crossed the line in front when winning it, didn't get round to backing him for the CH itself though until the following October, apologies for the minor after time there. ![]() |

Gutted over this, The Grand Annual is easily my best race over the last 10-12 years and the Pipe my worst

Suspect you must be almost unique. There was a time when a class horse would win off a big weight and progress the following year. Now it is a 20+ runner cavalry charge, full of exposed horses and a case of who turns up on the day. For me the worst handicap of the meeting.

unique indeed.

Having the worst race of the week as the last race of the week works for me. Perhaps they could continue in this vein and have the final day running order as
The 3m novice hurdle The mares novice hurdle The 20f novice chase The Ryannair chase The 20f novice chase hcp Juvenile hcp h CJ handicap h That would be perfect ![]() |

Id swap the coral cup for the ryanair in that list gobally !
