Haha, the old Washing Machine, poor Claudia, she did get some stick.
To be fair to this forum there has been some classic threads over the years. A couple that spring to mind were Alvarado spotting Simonsig after one bumper run telling everyone to lump on for next years Supreme or Neptune, Cyclops spotting Don Cossack as a future Gold Cup winner as a bumper horse, Sonko putting up Coneygree as a future Gold Cup winner as an early novice hurdler.
I agree that some of the debate has gone, but on the other hand there are less smart @rses now, who if you didn't agree with them you were either called thick, didn't know what you were talking about and your opinion was dismissed...Cybyrne and Judorick spring to mind with that one.
I'd say I've won more money than I've lost off the back of taking advice from others on this forum, so I can't complain
This year I'd say there are less high profile duels that need to be settled at Cheltenham - ie a big Mullins runner taking on a Henderson or Nicholls runner who's been sweeping all before them in England. I do think there is a real lack of top top quality horses at the minute, so I'm not sure that's helped either.

Oh yeah, like Lord Windermere in the Gold Cup. After 9 months of vehemently championing Silviniaco Conte (don’t quote me on that) - and no-one did vehemently quite as vehemently as Rick - with about two minutes before the off, with the eyes of the world on Prestbury Park, he posts, “I suppose you could make a case for Lord Windermere based on his RSA win”. 10 minutes later, BOOOOOMMMM!!!!! Tells everyone his ‘followers’ are in clover, he is f’kin mutts nuts. Anyone who didn’t now recognise him as the second coming was a total mug. Was priceless stuff.

Having a quiet year this year. Have had a few looks at the markets the arkle my best book but nothing like usual. Can u believe I've only got max 2 backed in any race I've had a go at this year? Crazy eh? Nah I moved house last autumn and that took a while to get sorted and just as I was about to sit down and start looming at the Cheltenham markets seriously I got an email from pp telling me that I had won the racehorse they were giving away matter of time! So was busy with that all throughout December setting up the relevant H.r.i account and filling in forms and of course Christmas was happening too. We've had 2 runs, one for a mark of which she surprised us all finishing 4th then 7 days later where we in hindsight ran her too quick. SHE also got a bad bump in that. She's a little poorly at moment though we had a plan to run at dundalk couple weeks ago and a poss trip to Newcastle but she went lame day before entry day for dundalk and now won't see her till mid to end march which is a bit of a bummer.

I've been checking in and reading the odd post on here but never thought about posting tbh
Yeah I will do. Like I said tho she poorly at min hope my next update from Henry's secretary Nicole is more upbeat than the last. Finishing 4th and 4 lengths off a 84 rated (albeit one that didn't like winning) then getting 66 we were all excited but ran too soon and the market new too.(9/2 -25/1!) She's 65 now after that run so hoping she pulls through her lameness and we can get her out. I've discussed it with Henry and we're going to try 6 furlongs. Dad was a group 1 winner over the min but Nial said after getting off last time she not built to be a sprinter but we're going to test her as she won't get a mile. There is the small matter of the Cheltenham festival too at min and their a bit busy, don't think priority is to look after some dodgy 3 year old maiden with only 10 days to go lol

I know we're close to the fez and so your all prob not wanting to read this but im beginning to feel quietly positive about the chances of this horse I won now.
Ship of dreams won the maiden my horse was 4th in on 5th jan beaten 7.25 lengths in total. Ship of dreams just ran there in that listed race. Ok beat approx 8 lengths in receipt of 10ib but imo he wasn't knocked about in that. As promised i have had an update and she is well, we go in a few weeks time off 65

Oh hi all, I asked kirk what he's up to and he said he is off to Cheltenham white suit donned. Ralph from the 121 Club, who was from Cheltenham, used to pick him up on his motorcycle combination and drop him at the door. Now Ralph has passed away kirk hires a Lambo for the day and takes a bevvy of beauties with him. Other than that he is keeping a fairly low profile.

I've been reading forums. I always check up here. I think trainers and jockeys have been bought and sold for bookies gold, and it's doing us no favours. I tend to do what i think feels best at the time, and this time around i've just been reading other peoples comments on a regular basis. I'm also struggling to be confident about anything i've backed, especially with the weather. To me it feels like a hit and hope festival.

Been very busy with family and work this year so not been on much. Also had to overcome some sort of forum-related issue that wouldn't let me post on here when I did get on. Surprisingly, clearing cookies and cache actually did solve it for once. I've hardly had a chance to have a look at the Festival markets this year and compared to normal by this time have hardly had an AP bet either. The only ones I have got are North Hill Harvey 16/1 (Arkle - put it on in the autumn and he's a bigger price now!), Saint Calvados 8/1 (Arkle - after his win at Warwick) and Getabird 16/1 (amazing price but sadly I backed him for the potato race instead of the Supreme). Sadly I'm not going at all this year. The inlaws are away for a month which means I'm needed for picking up and dropping off the kids each day but my last day at work was Thursday so I've spent a couple of days going through Tuesday. Can't say I've formed many strong opinions yet though. Good to be back on here though, actually feels like Cheltenham now...

In reply to those of you interested we are entered this coming Friday @ Dundalk. We hope to run well though whether she can run to her maiden form or not is another matter. Probably will need to run close to 70 to win but we'll be doing our best, i hope

Can't say I'm looking forward to the race mind cos I'm not but not expecting to see much. The form is there for all to see. The numbers are there for all to see. Lines through the winners of both the maiden and handicap we ran in in Jan however this is a first run back since and well we're hopeful. When I say numbers u never can tell as change of trip jockey etc etc. I did have the choice mind, Wayne lordan or this guy. He is capable has riddwn a couple decent winners this year and has an average strike rate. However to quote Henry De bromhead yesterday 6 furlongs round dundalk isn't rocket science

MATTER OF TIME 6pm Dundalk 33/1 bet365 28/1 generally Possibly gonna be left red faced but she surely got half a chance in this tonight? She was 4th beat 7.25L to a 2 subsequent winners in a Maiden over 7f at this track on the 5th Jan 2018, this was her first run under my name. We did not expect her to run as well as she did. Beat that far by ship of dreams who has acquitted himself pretty well last time when a 7length 6th of 6 to Mendellshon, a 116 rated animal now off to Dubai with high hopes for a Kentucky Derby run. SoD was in receipt of 10ib that day but not knocked about in that listed race by my calculations putting a line through SoD makes my horse well handicapped off just 65! Next run just 7 days later we had high hopes coming off that maiden run and given a mark of 66. However she was very weak in the market and it said everything really. When Nial came back in he reported she felt weak after just 2 furlongs, (he reported that she felt strong right up to approx' 2 out in the maiden so that came as a surprise) she basically 'bounced' however that run may not actually look as bad as it looked at the time. A good friend of mine has done some calculations and he came up with a line through Patrick Joseph, the winner of said 2nd run that we are actually 10ib well in on Clebourne for a 6.25 length beating last time. Given that we bounced, we also received a bad bump inside the distance, she has had a nice holiday, the drop in trip should suit (she's pulled slightly first 3-4 furlongs first twice over the 7 and Dad was a group winner over 5) and we are using a very capable conditional in Dylan Robinson today 33/1 is far to big to keep to myself. Sorry for the lengthy message and also for the thread i posted on here during Chelters last week, i should have left it till now.
Just don't shoot down the messenger, just offering this out there. Good luck i see Garry O'Brien has put up La Novia

She's definitely too high in the handicap. From the high of winning that stupid mechanical horse race they did on Facebook live and the elation I felt when I got that phone call from pp when she was 4th in that maiden and showed all that promise I was on cloud 9! Horses do have a big habit of making a fool of you! I will never experience this again that's for sure but I'd of thought the horse they picked for the prize would have had some modicum of ability
You know not much

Just a very bad run that none of us can put a handle to is what we think. We were definitely expecting better! Her work has been normal without being spectacular but considering her lameness in early Feb' she did seem to be back to normal.

I thought the first part of the race looked very promising, travelled ok and was positioned well, then it all seemed to go pear shaped in a few strides, I actually thought her action went a bit as she looked scratchy through the 2nd part of the race.

Ok one more. She's clearly not a 6f horse. She got very tired, this was when her action went. However this will be the last time she runs at dundalk. We are going to race her predominantly on turf from now on and mix it up between 7 and 8f. She's obviously very moderate and all we can hope for is to try get a couple good runs before the prize runs out and I hand her back over to pp. Hopefully the handicapper gives her a chance while under my name, that's all I can hope for. You can expect to see her on a racecourse approx every 2 to 3 weeks as long as she stays healthy.
Thanks for your good wishes Duffy and bud

Just thought I'd let you guys know we are entered for the 8:30 dundalk weds 11th and intend to run.
It's a 10f race. Not many go from 7 to 6 then up to 10 but hey she's poor and there is limited options between now and when my time as an owner is up. She sure don't have the pace for 6!
Save yer money though as like I said she's obviously poor

Haha yeah u right Duffy, still getting nervous when she runs. Not as nervous anymore than I was on that first run mind. Which was a good effort regardless what anyone says. Had someone point out to me last night this could be her trip u never know and when I said no chance she replied with her breeding something about how it's all pace however she's out of a saddlers wells and that might have given her a bit of stamina so u never know really. I know nothing about bloodstock side of things.
The slower pace will help though and it does look a bad race. Feck sake just talked myself into a tenner ew at 25s when I said I won't again just hope for more prizes

Lol Duffy I think this girl who pointed out this line of bloodstock probably saw that one winner too
But most likely outcome is she's gonna finish really tired again go down double digits lengths and hopefully get dropped a little more than 3ib next time. Given that we have Dylan Robinson on board today she runs off 57 tonight so I will hope the handicapper at least drops her to at least that rating after tonight! Then we find a weak 7f or 8f race on turf or back at dundalk and see. But tbh we are clutching at straws with only 6 weeks or so left of my ownership
Stick her in your tracker though as I have cos I would not surprised she pops up rated low 50s in a couple months time at silly price ie 66s area & after I've handed her back! That is my hunch anyways! Unless they just put her away for breeding which is very possible too!
