What if we have all seriously underestimated that run at Leoparsdstown 3rd Feb? I'm not a time man 4m 0.90s slow by 15.90s perhaps somebody else can comment about that but if it was seriously good and I think it was shouldn't we be lumping on both large? I've got a wodge on Buvi at 5/1 so not all that interested in Faugheen particularly given problems this year although have backed it so that I win/win for a bottle or two of pom pom however Supasundae might the the one that has gone under the radar could be seriously underestimated 4/1 with Paddies NRNB 5.1 to £17 on here had a wee interest yesterday and be having a dabble today now I have thought about it. Any thoughts?

Sad I know 6:42 to be thinking about Chelters.

The proximity of Mick Jazz would suggest the form is nothing outstanding

Thought it was an awful race to be honest.Won by a stayer.
Supasundae came out of it ok.
The rest I would not have any interest in for this years festival.

Don’t rule out Melon, Bud.
The market told you what his chance was and I suspect they left plenty to work on. If BD is below form, and Hendo has hardly been upbeat this week, he will be one of a few with a chance in the Champion Hurdle.

Hendo being downbeat is very much a positive

alot of cases can be made for many horses on what if weve underestimated previous performances.

Was the Irish Champion Hurdle Des, were they not in it to run a big race?
Anyway, Melon has shown absolutely nothing to me in any of his races to give him any chance of beating BD.
And I aint backing him in case BD runs below par.
Rather leave the race alone than do that.

Des, you backing Melon without the fav?
7/1 nrnb.

Yes. I also burgled 16/1 ew earlier in the season (shrewd, eh?). I'm a lover of festival form and I thought his Supreme run last year was top notch for such an inexperienced horse. I'll admit that I had hoped for a better season from him than we've had, but am hopeful that a return to the Festival will bring about an improvement. Even considering all that, take out BD and his form stacks up in comparison to the others in the race.

I expect BD will win, but have also laid him, as I lay anything odds on at the Festival. It has stood me in good stead over the years, however, recent years less so - a sure sign that the racing has become less competitive with the introduction of more races/options.

Well his form stacks up with MTOY, but that was soft that day. Both will be better suited to normal festival ground.
MTOY will probably run to get placed, not sure Melon will and that may stop him placing? He has to improve past Faugheen as well to get 2nd.
More I think about it the more I think it will be an owner/trainer 1st and 2nd.
But you do have a point re improvement Des.

Normally I wouldn't 2nd guess this particular trainer (and credit to her for leaving no doubt as to where the horse will be running) but I would have much preferred to see Supasundae running in the Champion Hurdle

I'm considering a lay of Faugheen for a place, Bud.
I think he was fully would up the last day, as they had to see what they had following the earlier disappointment. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he bounced or even missed the race entirely - given that he seems to be unable to stay sound or string two decent performances together these days.
Report buddeliea February 22, 2018 5:36 PM GMT
Good luck with that Des,i think you would want him as a non runner.
I dont fancy him at all to win,but this race could cut up a lot, and you may run out of horses good enough to stop him placing if he does run.

Thanks everybody looks like it is back to the drawing board for me.

Lib
Do a cheeky win double on Faugheen and Supasundae, just in case.
At least that way i would feel better if they do win!!
