Who will you all be taking as the ones to follow from this years Triumph/Bumper/Supreme/Neptune/Albert Bartlett/Mares Novice with a view to next season?
I'll admit I was slightly underwhelmed by all 3 of the Novice Hurdles in terms of future stars in the making. After last years festival I instantly turned my attention to future plans for Altior/Min/Yorkhill/Yanworth.
From the Supreme, Labaik and Melon were clearly the best of a bad bunch this year but will need to hold fire on my judgement of them until next seen.
From the Neptune, the one I would be taking from the race is Neon Wolf who could be a monster over a fence.
Albert Bartlett done nothing for me this year, Death Duty was bitterly disappointing but the race tends to be a graveyard for the so called good things. Penhill was impressive in victory to be fair.
From the Bumper, Fayonagh was very impressive in victory. Reminded me very much of Moon Racers Bumper win a couple of years after blowing the start and thundering home from last to first. Hard to know how good the bumper horses are from this year though. Would have liked to have seen Getabird of Ballyward make the trip - vibes were bad on Carter MacKay all day on Wednesday and they weren't far off.
From the Triumph, Defi Du Seuil is the one I'm most looking forward to seeing next season. You'd like to think he could make up into a Champion Hurdle horse next season but we'll just have to wait and see.
From the Mares Novice Hurdle, Let's Dance was impressive but probably the best of an average bunch. Airlie Beach was disappointing given she was a Grade 1 winner earlier this season. Would have liked to have seen Let's Dance in the Neptune this year if I'm honest.

Neon Wolf clearly is a mega prospect for next season; Labaik only if he runs off with the others every time otherwise in-running only but I cannot have Melon, connections or not; Ballyandy had had a nightmare of a race thus cannot be discounted.
I have not given up on Death Duty (yet) but he needs to prove himself at either 20f or 24f (hurdles or fences) - the same with Unowhatimeanharry; Getabird is also one to follow over hurdles, but the Mares Novices is a non-event for me.
Of course Defi Du Seuil is a must until he loses.

uknowhatimeanharry isn't a novice.
agree with neon wolf. thought he improved on what he did before even in defeat. looks born to jump fences and think he should be backed for the arkle.

Hard to know about the novices until they run next year; after Aintree we all thought Apples Jade was a good thing for the Champion Hurdle. Willoughby Court at 20's for the Stayers is the one that'd interest me, but not putting any on. He stayed up the hill really well and was entered in the Albert Bartlett so they must think he'll get 3m.
Did n't Hobbs start talking about Defi Du Seuil jumping a fence without being prompted by the interviewer?
It's plausible he goes Arkle route for me because Buveur D'Air will surely attempt to defend his title, they've no reason to retire MTOY and, assuming Henderson retains his faith in Charli Parcs, he'll surely stay over hurdles.

Messire Des Obeaux for the RSA - thought he ran really well, just got tapped for toe when they quickened off the home turn but stayed on well. Though Alan King's Cheltenham record is a worry.
Brelafe also ran ok and might be an Arkle type.

willoughby court looks built for fences and looks ideal type for RSA.
defi du seuil is flat bred and looks on the small side to me. think he could make an impression in the champion hurdle but not sure about fences.then again trainer would know a lot better than I do. as for other mcmanus horses, MTOY had enough chances at champion hurdle and surely can't win one at his age, and charli parcs just seems like a hype horse to me. buveur d'air could easily get injured in which case his many chances could be down to very few.

Thought Constatine Bay stuck on really well after being badly hampered by fall of the worlds end.Not saying he would of won or anything but think to finish 4th was a huge effort.
Defi du seuil looks an absolute beast to me, impressive that he was out so early in the season and continued to run to the same mark each time and nothing came out of the woodwork as is normally the case, his most impressive win been the other day. A horse with immense potential.
Constantine Bay - I was mad keen to see what price he was for the RSA next year but doesn't seem to be anything about.
I think he definitely could have won (and was a dead cert for a place at least). I backed him E/W @ 20/1 and watched in abject disappointment when Worlds End almost brought him down. After the jockey made a remarkable recovery and the horse had come to a virtual standstill out very wide he was almost last; yet still finished like an absolute steam train up the hill to get 4th.
An awful lot to like about him as he's clearly got ability and a big heart.
