The Friday night of the last day is horrible and Midlands national day (although a Saturday which would otherwise be something to look forward to) doesn't really help much.
Whether you've won or lost is beside the point for me and probably the many enthusiasts on forums like this, I think (at the risk of sounding melodramatic)it's because we invest so much emotionally in the weeks and months leading up to the event, day and night on here debating and exchanging views and then in a flash it's all over it takes a bit of time to get it out of your system. Anyway, roll on Aintree

My bank balance is glad it's over, but I'd happily go through it every week.

to some extent that's true, but you'd also like to win. I did five bets and lost them all. none of them even came close to winning. Well apart from melon I guess.
when that happens your immediate reaction is, did i spend weeks and months of my life looking forward to this? the whole thing seems ridiculously overblown and the races are so competitive, they're basically designed to steal your money.
I don't care what anyone says, it's very very hard to find winners. is that a good thing for a gambler? not sure.

Feeling jaded (emotionally), and deflated not getting the winner of the GC even with three silver bullets at my disposal. Just need to recharge battery and be ready for the big races on the Flat (again).
I always take the week off work so the fact that I have to deal with the festival being over and going back to work on Monday is a double blow

Not yet, still getting over the hangover and bankruptcy. I'm sure that will change as of Monday morning in work though.
Its horrible, like when you land on way home from Vegas, was going to cheer myself up and go and see Millwall but thought better of it!! Will sit here and drink some Champagne and watch the races again, its not all about the betting for me, its the build up, the first race roar, the whole lot
Win or lose, I always feel a little releived it is all over and ready for a break.. Not sure if that is because of the racing or the drinking.

Only 1 winner all week for me, few places.... worst festival for years (betting wise ) .. you can't win em all.!!! had a blast at the course, met some new people that I'll hopefully meet again at future festivals.... but I'm glad it's over, I'm burnt out!!! the flat won't see much of my cash over summer and I'll be refreshed and ready to start again in October.... highlight of week for me was the rsa, dramatic finish and when course commentator announced the result of the photo he gave it a few seconds before declaring the winner, you could have heard a pin drop, magic!!
Profitable week, but blues setting in tonight after beer soaked train journey back to Scotland. Reality tomorrow.
not at all . used to go every day for 30 years but a much , much changed place now . one day does me and rest on ruk / local pub . lots to look forward to in the summer ; even if you don't like the flat there are days at cartmel for instance . for me ...roll on york .
Always finish work on the Friday before Cheltenham and go back to work on the Monday after. I am heads down dedicated to racing from the Imperial Cup through to the Midlands National and today is usually when reality kicks in.
Like a kid whose summer holidays have come to an end and his parents have called him indoors to get scrubbed up for first day back, today is just bloody depressing.
Give it a week and I'll be looking forward to the start of the flat and The Lincoln.

Went for all 4 days for the first time, the difference between days is quite stark.
The first 2 days feel more like a proper racing crowd, the other 2 see a very noticeable increase in the type of lads who say 'banter' a lot and take selfies in the gym.
Generally though it is good natured and I saw no real issues apart from a couple of roid monsters acting up in the Centaur dressed like hillbillies on the Thursday.
I do think Gold Cup day is just that little bit too busy now though so i'll be tempted to give it a miss next year.

Used to go Wednesday to Friday, this year changed to Tuesday to Thursday. Enjoyed it much more.
Been to Aintree for 23 years running and went on the Tuesday / Weds of the festival for the first time this year. Only has tatts tickets but walked straight into club (without really realising) and found myself right at the back of the steps with no view at all (ten mins before first race).
Managed to make my way down on to the lawn and watched the first race before returning to the tatts for the rest of the meeting. I found it quite awkward navigating around the course, no obvious bars until we managed to locate the Guinness tents. The course seemed to cater more for the cooperate client which I was quite shocked at.
I managed to get a reasonable view for all the races and whilst I enjoyed the two days, it lacked a certain spark for me. This may have been due to very few hot pots going in and a lot of the favoured runners missing due to injury but I was a little disappointed by it all.
The crowd itself was quite different from Aintree (being a scouser myself) it was nice to mix with a lot of knowledgable racegoers instead of ones who just want to look the part.
Having said that, I much prefer Aintree from a viewing point of view and the ease of getting drinks, food etc. I would go back to Chelts again but maybe not for a few years.

I'm all geared up for the Flat season, then looking forward to seeing Might Bite in the King George Chase at Kempton. Bring it on!
I'm on too much of a high right now but a bit like the Slade song 'I wish it could be Cheltenham every week'. From the going market to the Grand Annual it was a brilliant Festival. I'm actually looking forward to a bit of time away from oddschecker and Betfair.
I now have some nice multiples running on from Cheltenham to the flat Classics so still much to look forward to.

I used to get very down after Cheltenham; nowadays I've conditioned myself to look forward to Aintree where there are some excellent races over the three days.

I console myself by vacuum-packing my Stg. Betting bank and winnings to be kept untouched until the November meeting. Roll on.

Not missing it at all for the first time. Didnt have any antepost interest due to poor NRNB value so want looking forward to it as i would usually. Went last year and it cost a fortune along with only having one winner. The cost has outgrown the hype for me but without antepost it is just like most other big meetings.

Hope Buveur shows it would be great for racing but if you come don't disrespect Irish Racing with the spiel ye come out with here it's not the same as the festival but the way you speak you have no respect or intelligence for anything

Thursday & Friday didn’t set the pulse racing for me, only a couple decent races between the 2 days. Not enough good horses in training to keep up the high standard set tue/wed, a lot of horses should be knowhere near the Cheltenham Festival

I started the thread and always feel post Cheltenham blues but after many years of finding excuses not to go I finally went this year for the full 4 days, after initially experiencing what can only be described as shell shock/stage fright at the sheer battle to gain even the smallest of spaces at which to exist in not to mention the stampede into town afterwards I found it very enjoyable.
Despite finishing about £400 down the sheer ecstasy you feel when it's your turn to cheer one over the winning line in front which I did on just the 4 occasions but did include a back up on ABP and HH yesterday and then to reach over the rails as the horse and jockey come back past you and you get the chance to shout out congratulations is something I didn't really bargain for, really is a special moment that.
I don't mind admitting that I was a little bit emotional for a moment or two after Hazel Hill, I think because I went with my Son who I could see that, despite not being a horse racing enthusiast as such was really happy after those two winners.
Not so many Cheltenham blues this year for me and all being well I'll be back again next year.

Don't wish these precious hours away, wish you could slow time down, it's Christmas Eve for all of us and there aint no kid anywhere who's felt as excited as we do right now.
All the dreams are still alive, all the times you've played out a commentary in your head culminating in your horse crossing the line first are all still possible.

I thought I was the only one did commentaries in my head, strange thing is my horse doesn't always win and sometimes horses not even involved in the race, make an apperance too
Spot on Duffy. Theres no worse Saturday in the year than Midlands National day. As much as I love the racing, win or lose, I think my favourite part of the meeting is Monday eve/ Tuesday morning before racing when all the dreams are still alive.
