Last 5 years been quite fortunate, been either up ( about 2.5k my best ) or level on week, which I'm quite happy with... had some right stinkers over the years I remember one year leaving the course on Friday with only shrapnel left in my pocket had not bet 1 winner all week, another I bet Detroit city and it was my 1st winner of week, I remember the relief as it was about my last notes on it and thinking I could go into town after racing!

Pretty much all the festivals until I started hedging my bets, and picking more than one horse in a race.

Set out with a budget - and have lost that, but never chased losses after that.

I tend to go in roughly five year cycles of three years breaking even, one year losing the lot and one year winning spectacularly.

You and i are so much alike Laugh

I remember one year i had like a tenner left, and wanted to back 2 horses. Needed money to get home again, eat etc etc.
Why oh why i didn't just split stakes and back both i will never know, one was like 5/2 fav other was 10/1 but hey, the fav was backed it lost by a nose and the 10/1er dotted up Cry

1998 was a shocker. Never had a winner but was still confident going into the Gold Cup with 11/2 2nd Fav See More Business sat on a 40/1 AP slip.  The rest is history and I was the laughing stock.  Thankfully, I stuck with him in 99, but 98 still gives me shivers.

I only started keeping proper records in 2010.... But 2012 was the one for me. Backed 11 seconds and had a disastrous week.

Been kind to me since though.

Barton winning the sun alliance hurdle year was a good one for me, khayrawani won the Coral cup and majadou also, rooster booster good year also, one knight.

The year See More Business and Flagship Uberalles both got beat in the GC and CC was a particularly bad year.
