If Faugheen was to miss Cheltenham what is the chance of a late switch for Min or Douvan into the Champion Hurdle.
Douvan would win without coming off the bridle and Un De Sceaux would contest the Champion Chase. Unlikely to happen but depends on if Ricci wants the Champion Chase or the Champion Hurdle which he has won the past couple of years.
Could also drop Min in as well.
I know talk of Yorkhill possibly being a late reroute but maybe Ricci will think of moving one of his.
Vroom Vroom Mag could go Champion and Limini mares (or even Lets Dance if they avoid the novice) but Vroom Vroom looks like she needs further at the highest level.
I've just backed Yorkhill CH and Min JLT in a double. I think despite what Ricci said today there have to be grave doubts about whether Faugheen turns up at Cheltenham and for that reason I think Yorkhill is the best candidate from the Mullins stable. That then leaves the JLT wide open and Min would start favourite if re-routed to avoid Altior. It's all guesswork but it's worth a speculative punt. No chance of Douvan being re routed imo. He's firmly embedded as a chaser now and Mullins has plenty of CHs in the bag but still no CC. UDS is far from a guaranteed winner of the CC were he to be Mullins main hope.

A big payout if it materialises; Min is 24/1 here just for the JLT, and he'd probably walk it given Buveur D'air's lack of invincibility for the same race. I have yet to understand the mechanics of Yorkhill's connections choice of the JLT over the Arkle for the horse given he is deem quick enough for the Champion Hurdle. Could a last minute swap between the two from their present targets? It is not implausible....

@impossible123 Yorkhill is targeting the JLT because they see him as a future GC horse. But given how he jumps a fence i'm not surprised they might look at going back over hurdles in the future. Hopefully they stick with fences this season and at least give him a chance to improve.

maelduin That did cross my mind. I do agree about the fencing of Yorkhill at the present time. Let's hope he can improve with time. I hope Min will not be too disheartened should he play 2nd fiddle to Altior (again) in the Arkle.

I can see Yorkhill switching but not Douvan as it has very little competition in the Queen Mother. I read this morning that Gary Moore was taking it day by day with Ar Mad running at Cheltenham. By midday that article had been pulled and replaced with one saying it wasn't running at the Festival. Trainer's are taking the p!ss nowadays and standards of journalism are garbage.

No chance of Douvan being rerouted to the Champion Hurdle despite winning the Supreme in 2015, why? He'd have lost some of his pace and hurdling prowess since going to fencing; Yorkhill is the only and realistic option if connections do not wish to relinquish the CH crown without a credible defence.

Douvan would hack up in a CH....jumping a few fences every 6 weeks odd doesn't slow you down...but he won't be running in it and I'll be very surprised if Yorkhill runs in it too.
