Hopefully some might find this helpful.

Max field sizes and lowest rating that got you a run last year

Tue
Ultima - 24 - 131
Novice - 22 - 137 (has gone up every year since it's introduction, 131, 135, 136, 137)

Wed
Coral - 26 - 139
Fred Winter - 22 - 128

Thur
Pertemps - 24 - 135
Plate - 24 - 135
Kim Muir - 24 - 134

Fri
County - 26 - 138
Martin Pipe - 24 - 135
Grand Annual - 24 - 137

According to my records the handicap entries were published on 25th Feb, (thought I'd recorded the date that the weights were released but I can't find it, sorry) and the "Stoke" firm were the first to go NRNB on all races on Saturday 27th Feb, old RP Trophy day at Kempton (different sponsor now).

I'm sure there will be some but it's getting harder now. To get a run you have to show your hand to some extent. If, like me, you enjoy tilting at windmills going for a big payout and prepared to put in the work, the Fred Winter is always a hoot to sort out and I will die a happy man if I ever back the winner of the Coral Cup!

I'd love to know the money I've frittered away on the handicaps over the years at The Festival. CryLaugh

Spirit River will always make the coral cup special to me, like you mr e i have wasted so much cash on handicaps at the festival. graded level weight races are so much easier.....

26 for the County and I bet there's plenty get balloted out

.....compared with 20 5 day entries for the Betfair hurdle on Saturday, where, if the ground stays testing, I bet less than 16 go to post for what is (I think?) still the richest 2 mile handicap hurdle (someone put me right on this? It's still a decent pot, whatever).

God knows I love the festival with a passion but it truly does cast too long a shadow over the season.

Racing not post has them all up now

Arctic Fire entered in the county hurdle is the stand out to watch. Hadn't seen anything about him and assume he goes there without a prep so could be too much too soon...or could be outstanding value

How do we find the Official Handicap marks for all runners
By:
Jb23
When: 23 Feb 17 18:39
(Tues) Ultra Business Handicap - 141
(Tues) CHAPS Handicap - 136
(Weds) Coral Cup - 141
(Weds) Fred Winter Juvenile - 129
(Thurs) Pertemps Network Final - 138
(Thurs) Brown Advisory Plate - 137
(Thurs) Kim Muir - 134
(Fri) County Hurdle - 137
(Fri) Martin Pipe (0-145) - 136
(Fri) Grand Annual - 140

Every year I add to a spreadsheet with a number of personal criteria I like in my handicappers (Course form, won this season, won or placed in a field of 10+, 13+, 15+ etc). It contains the top 3 placings of each of the handicaps of the festival since 2006 and just look for specific tendencies of the horses which run well trying to look for trainers which target certain races historically.

Above are the average handicap marks for the top 3 for each of the handicaps since 2006. Probably completely redundant information, but its worked nicely for me a couple of times, purely based on an average mark which typically runs well.

http://www.britishhorseracing.com/resource-centre/official-ratings/ratings-database/

Anything that happens between now and teatime sunday can affect the festival hcp weights.

The marks for the irish horse will be out on march 2nd.

Diamond King looks an absolute stand out to me... amazed they haven't been hit harder as he looks to have been plotted up for this.
