Pingshou who was fourth at Newbury (by 7 lengths) came out and won a decent novice hurdle at Cheltenham on Friday. Combination of form being franked and bookies trying to take a little bit of cash I imagine

Not only has his form been boosted, but I think its also a reaction to the fact the Irish don't seem to have a strong hand in this race this year. Senewalk has already disappointed, the Royal Bond didn't throw up a potential star, and the winner may go down the Mares Novice route anyway. Crack Mome wasn't particularly impressive the other day.
Jenkins has always had a huge reputation, I actually think the current prices aren't too out of line. Especially when you consider Hendo's record in the race as well.

Jenkins (13/8) and his stablemates (11/4) are in the Supreme Trial Novices at Ascot this friday. The 64k question is will both run though or will it be ground dependent? Personally, I'd doubt very much both will run with so many more races and rich pickings prior to Cheltenham should they go for the same race at Cheltenham.

still 7/1 available, betting on the skybet suggests that maybe lough derg spirit is the one on friday rather than Jenkins. Thought Pinshou was an impressive winner on Friday and that Newbury race could work out to be strong form. The irish don't seem to have as many this season as others have noted, although we have yet to see Melon, Blow by blow, Lucky pass might also be an interesting one.

Another chance to see the merit of the Jenkins form this week as Captain Forez is jocked up for Ascot on Friday. Could be an interesting race and give us some idea how LDS and Jenkins compare.

I have not given up hope yet (nrnb with Sky***) after one bad run - it is too bad to be true. How humbling horse racing can be? Hendo, just two weeks ago, had two Supreme Hurdle hopefuls in Jenkins and LDS but now both disappointed big time.

Hendo recently stated supreme still the plan so something must have come to light cos it aint winning anything but a seller based on that last run. Still think ive done my money in though!

Thanks 'sc183'. I'd not write him off just yet on the back of one bad run nonetheless his jumping must improve no end,...a trip to 'specsavers' could do wonders.

8/11 in that field, the big punters in Hendersons knew well he wouldn't be winning. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes handy with him for the rest of the season and tries to get him back for next.

Latest update courtesy of Mr Henderson's blog - "I have received oodles of tweets asking about JENKINS who fluffed his lines at Kempton on Boxing Day and it has come to light that he does have a problem which has come to light after his race. It’s mainly bruising really but there is also some fluid around the tendon sheath which we drained yesterday and it has helped. It’s very frustrating though as he missed a couple of pieces of work and we need to get going with him again. We are struggling, and how much the bruising is to do with his Kempton defeat, I don’t know, and it’s a setback we could have done without but we’re nearly there"
At least we have some sort of reason for his poor run now!

I only hope Hendo can get him ready in time - if he turns up 100% he'll run much better then his current price suggests!
I'm mightily relieved to hear of this - thanks!I only hope Hendo can get him ready in time - if he turns up 100% he'll run much better then his current price suggests!
I'd be amazed if they got Jenkins there, Nickys last blog report didn't given any confidence they could get him there in time.

latest update from NJH doesn't sound that good - "I have to admit we are struggling with Jenkins. He is in work, yes, but it’s not work that is enough at this stage. He’ll gallop tomorrow and I’ll do as much as I dare to do but whether he’s going to make Cheltenham I have no idea as we are fighting against time. He’s fine and looks fantastic and is moving well – he’s got no injuries, but it’s just a bit of a struggle."

No worries, Hendo is a trainer....what is a bit of struggle getting horse ready for Cheltenham (not Kelso)? I'm sure he'd had lots of experiences eg Sprinter and Simonsig.

Definite worry if you're a supporter more like, he has had a lot of experience with Sprinter and Simonsig alright, and he is very careful and patient hence those two off for 1 year + and 2.5 years + respectively. Highly unlikely Jenkins makes it I'd have thought.
