I know there has been a bit of talk about him on another thread, but I reckon he deserves his own.

Was really taken with him yesterday. A scintillating round of jumping for a Novice and that could stand him in very good stead in a Supreme. NJH likes to run more than horse in the race and favours this over the Neptune for his young hurdlers, so I'd be pretty confident about backing him in this race rather than the Any Race market. Have taken the 20/1.

He openly said they like to target the Kempton race with a good one.

I might also be mad, but I got a price of 33/1 for the 2018 Arkle for a bit of fun. He also said that he is going to make a super Chaser next season.

Be interesting to see how his stablemate Jenkins gets on this Friday, supposed to be the real deal!
Report impossible123 November 22, 2016 6:29 PM GMT
Another 'Lough' that is a natural fencer eg Kylemore Lough. I was gutted when he lost by a short head at 7/1 at the weekend - it screwed up my double with Cue Card. Next time, I firmly believe he'll be ridden more patiently (like CC) similarly to the way he beat Outlander in Ireland.
Report Can't Catch Me November 22, 2016 7:30 PM GMT
Yes Jenkins is probably their first string for the Supreme at this stage. Be surprised if he jumps as well as LDS though!
Report impossible123 November 22, 2016 7:57 PM GMT
Jenkins could meet Coup De Pinceau, runner-up to LDS at Newbury on friday.

Sumptuous aftertime, great stuff.

Joist,

You must lead a 'normal' life to be so 'affected' by a post here!

Remember, when one tells a lie one is only kidding oneself, nobody else. if you bear that in mind you'll know where I'm coming from. Good bye!!!!!!

I think LDS has drifted slightly in the Supreme because Lydia Hislop reckoned he'd be suited by a longer distance eg Neptune or Albert Bartlett.

Anyone got a price for the Commonwealth cup? ;)

Report impossible123 November 24, 2016 5:12 PM GMT
Try Oddschecker, click on 'Flat' then Commonwealth Cup: Caravaggio is 'fav' at 4/1 presently.
Report impossible123 November 25, 2016 2:02 PM GMT
Unlike the slick jumping from LDS in his hurdling debut his stablemate, Jenkins, was far from fluent but he won handsomely; he'd need to improve a lot on his jumping in the Supreme Hurdle though.

Last season Hendo had two in the Supreme Hurdle, namely Altior and Buveur D'air - same again this season? Why not I say.
Report sc1883 November 25, 2016 2:09 PM GMT
As a JENKINS backer I was a bit disappointed visually live but looking at the form after the event I believe this is good debut over hurdles. Posted a good time in the ground and think the horses in behind will be useful animals. Certainly got the feel this was a deeper race than the one Lough Derg Spirit ran in. Im sure next time his jumping will have improved and at this stage still my fancy for the supreme. He's certainly got some engine!
Report unclepuncle November 25, 2016 5:20 PM GMT
Another LDS fan signing in,Grin

I've only backed him for the Neptune @ 25/1 so hope that's the route they take.
Report Ibrahima Sonko November 25, 2016 5:25 PM GMT
I have seen LDS and Jenkins run in the flesh this week, still more impressed with LDS. But Jenkins did come back on the bridle approaching the last, need to see him jump better next time out.
Report impossible123 November 25, 2016 7:05 PM GMT
Jenkins certainly has an engine, and a force to be reckoned with at Cheltenham if he brushes up his jumping. He is only 12/1 here.
Report deepingfox November 25, 2016 9:49 PM GMT
Defo take the 25/1 LDS for the Neptune, not the smaller prices for the Supreme.

Jenkins good value at 12/1 for the Supreme. If hurdling Improves through schooling and running in quicker pac race he could be a star.
Report impossible123 November 26, 2016 11:29 AM GMT
So which race will this one go, Neptune or Supreme? Jenkins is more likely the Supreme as it is more thought of than LDS.
Report Can't Catch Me December 8, 2016 7:50 AM GMT
Entered in the 2m Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham tomorrow.
Report impossible123 December 8, 2016 5:32 PM GMT
He is missing in the line-up, next weekend perhaps.
Report unclepuncle December 8, 2016 8:25 PM GMT
Wouldn't be surprised if he goes for the novice hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day - as Altior did year. If he doesn't then Jenkins surely will.
Report sc1883 December 8, 2016 9:10 PM GMT
Jenkins already pencilled in for Kempton
Report Can't Catch Me December 9, 2016 4:52 PM GMT
Nice boost for Jenkins there.
Report Ibrahima Sonko December 9, 2016 5:33 PM GMT
Indeed, looked a hot race.
Report Can't Catch Me December 9, 2016 5:38 PM GMT
PP have Jenkins into 5/1 fav now! Wonder if thats because they know there isn't much in a Ireland this year.
Report impossible123 December 9, 2016 6:08 PM GMT
5/1 fav for the Supreme Hurdle for staying in his box? Sheer madness,...I'd have Rhododendron in the 1000G any time, any day. Let's hope it has not dented LDS's chance of running in the Neptune. Nevertheless, I have backed him at 12/1 out of sheer desperation to participate in the Supreme Hurdle antepost.
Report Can't Catch Me December 9, 2016 6:11 PM GMT
You can say it's just for staying in his box, but his form has taken a pretty big boost today.
Report impossible123 December 9, 2016 6:55 PM GMT
I think it is more Henderson induced. However, he was impressive considering his sloppy jumping at times.
Report Can't Catch Me December 9, 2016 6:56 PM GMT
What do you mean Henderson induced?
Report impossible123 December 9, 2016 7:23 PM GMT
Hendo's reputation.
Report Can't Catch Me December 9, 2016 7:52 PM GMT
He's been slashed in price today, because of Hendersons reputation? And not because one of the horses he beat easily just won a very hot race at Chelts.

Right. Got it.
Report Smart Predator December 9, 2016 8:39 PM GMT
Hendos reputation? why wasn't he slashed yesterday then?
Report Can't Catch Me December 9, 2016 8:56 PM GMT
Hendo trained 19 winners today.
Report Ibrahima Sonko December 9, 2016 9:07 PM GMT
lol

I would not be a backer of jenkins under 8's after seeing him hurdle, i guess he will get much better so i would rather back him on the day, if he still has to prove it etc.
Report impossible123 December 9, 2016 9:20 PM GMT
Was it a hot race? Ok, let me check what that horse beat?
Report impossible123 December 9, 2016 9:31 PM GMT
The fav and 2nd fav in the race did not perform (ground perhaps); the runner-up was having his 1st run over hurdles, 3rd (50/1) fell last time out, 4th (33/1), I do not need to continue, do I?

If LDS had stood his ground and was beaten by Pingshou then I can understand the reaction of the bookies.
Report Can't Catch Me December 9, 2016 10:08 PM GMT
I've no interest whether you think that was or wasn't a hot race. Time will tell.

But the point remains the horse had his form boosted today and that's why he has been shortened. To suggest it's because of 'Hendo's reputation' is nothing short of laughable.
Report Can't Catch Me December 12, 2016 6:46 PM GMT
Not sure what Sky bet know, but they are the only firm to have priced up the race at Ascot this weekend, and it looks like LDS will be running and not Jenkins, if they are correct.
Report impossible123 December 12, 2016 6:53 PM GMT
The betting has flip-flopped between the two Hendo protagonists.
Report stormey1 December 12, 2016 7:10 PM GMT
Henderson did say after Jenkins won that next run would be at Kempton same race Altior won last year.
Report impossible123 December 14, 2016 7:38 PM GMT
LDS is 11/10 here but much shorter elsewhere with Keep In Line and Captain Forez at 3/1 and 4/1 respectively - both higher rated than LDS. Does LDS warrant this price with just a run under his belt?
Report unclepuncle December 14, 2016 8:17 PM GMT
What do you think?

If you think the answer is 'no' then lay the arse off him, if you think the answer is 'yes' then back the arse off him.

This is drifting like a barge, from 11/10 to 9/4 here; the competition is much stiffer but present going is pretty similar to his last race. A back proposition at this price receiving 3lbs from stablemate or is LDS a more effective further than 16f against this lot?
Report impossible123 December 16, 2016 11:52 AM GMT
This barge seems to be riderless,...it is 11/4 from 11/10. Will have  a few sqids for a bit of interest and value.

Report barnesey December 16, 2016 12:18 PM GMT
I watched LDS first run and whilst I was impressed with his immaculate jumping and the way he won I thought it probably wasn't the best race and not once did it scream supreme horse......... think he will be better over further and he went in my notebook for maybe a nice handicap race, obviously been wrong many times before and will be an interested spectator today in what could be a decent race which I will be surprised if he wins.
Report impossible123 December 16, 2016 2:12 PM GMT
4th the best position possible today and no chance in the Supreme; the Neptune possibly, and voucher is worth significantly less post race, I'd think.
Report Ibrahima Sonko December 16, 2016 8:46 PM GMT
The way he went out like a light i dont think he will be running in any top novice race at the festival.
Report sageform December 18, 2016 8:19 AM GMT
Strange 2 days for Nicholls and Henderson. Friday was all Nicholls and Henderson's were awful, yesterday was the opposite.
Report lewisham ranger December 18, 2016 11:42 AM GMT
that race annoyed me because I backed lough derg spirit.

I think that was rated 120 on racing post ratings. My gut instinct was to back Capitane at a much bigger price, he was the highest rated horse on racing post ratings at 140 and I felt sick when it became clear he was going to win.

A clear case of getting sucked in by the hype as all lough derg had won was a tinpot race at Kempton.

Nico de Boinville when asked for a horse at the festival to keep an eye on:

'I rode a nice horse the other day called Lough Derg Spirit up at Musselbrough in the Supreme Trial

I think he’s a nice each way price. I quite like him. He’s definitely going the right way'
