He featured strongly in last years' thread, and Doctor Harper kicks off this year's edition. Not today, Tom! Cruised into the race really eye-catchingly to 3 out, but was allowed to drop away as the pace quickened without much consternation from the saddle.
Could have an eye on the Kim Muir again or perhaps the William Hill if the handbrake comes off before March.

One minute he was close up, the next he was tailed off. Personally i dont think he jumps well enough for a punter to have full faith in.
Granted, he does provide a hairy moment or two on the way round but I think he's clearly a more talented beast than his current mark suggests.
Mr C Byrnes has sent a few over to Cheltenham for sighters so far:
Sea Light yesterday in the same race that Leave At Dawn won last year before heading to the Pertemps Final;
Crystal Pearl who I think would need to win another race somewhere before getting into anything at the Festival;
Black Warrior at the Showcase who might be a suitable one for something like the Martin Pipe perhaps;
Top Of The Town a NR yesterday but qualified for the Pertemps at the Showcase meeting with a nice run into 4th.
Would expect one or more of those to have their sights quite firmly on the Festival with Top Of The Town perhaps most likely.

Don't think Doctor Harper fancies it round Cheltenham personally.
Don't think it's up to Festival class but you can mark up the effort of SOLEMN GRUNDY behind the impressive winner Behind Time in the 2m5f Conditionals Handicap Hurdle on Sunday.
The winner is (rightly) getting a lot of chat, but SG pulled like crazy for most of the first half of the race and hit a hurdle down the far side pretty hard when the race was heating up. He wouldn't have won, but ran really well (clear of third) in the circumstances, and once re-assessed could take a 0-135 Hurdle on proper winter ground.

Roger- Someone who knew Mullholland gave it to me in the bar on Saturday night in Cheltenham. Went in ballsdeep on it, definitely one to follow given how hard he pulled!
Also worth noting he had the beating of the Clondaw Cian (who won impressively the previous day) when falling in an egg & spoon race at Fontwell I believe just before the festival
Doctor Harper won at Aintree which is a totally different track to Cheltenham.Perhaps he doesn't like the undulations and the final uphill finish where a horse has to "dig deep".At Aintree you basically need to maintain a good level gallop.
