In the Cheltenham preview nights there is a piece about Davy Russell talking about the Rynair. He advises that Vautour will definately run in the Ryanair and to fill your boots as he will win.

Dont you find it interesting that RR stated its the Gold Cup or stay at home yet Davy Russell new otherwise!!!!!

"Kevin O’Ryan opens the discussion stating that this is a difficult race to assess as we’re unsure what will run. This suggestion is shot down by Davy Russell as he says “we know exactly who’s going to run”! Davy tells the audience that Road To Riches will run in the Ryanair, as will Vautour"

He did mention NRNB but the way he says it, it is like he already knew Vautour would turn up here!

Tony Mullins was much the same as Russell, he said on the chapman phone in show that Vautour is simply a sub for djak in his opinion and is pretty much nailed on for the Ryanair.

We all knew it was going for the Ryanair except for the guy who owns it.

If you believed/followed everything Davy and Tony would say at a preview night youd end up in a right mess. Their aim is to entertain and they succeed but I'd leave it at that.

What is sad about the whole affair is the spin. if they had been prepared to make it clear that Djakadam was their GC horse provided that it was fit and Vautour would revert to the Ryanair nobody could have complained but when it is obvious that the insiders knew this, why say Vautour was a definite runner? Failing that say nothing.

But we don't know that. If we take everything connections said at face value, we know Ricci wanted the Gold Cup but we also know Ruby thought Vautour should run in the Ryanair. Since Ruby said he'd be "bending the ears off" Mullins and Ricci, we can assume Mullins also favoured the Gold Cup but was talked round -- probably quite easily since he has a record of taking the easy options for his horses.

So what we are left with is an over-confident owner who is wholly reliant on Willie and Ruby for his opinions and . And in a couple of months we'll have the same thing on the Flat with the Coolmore/Ballydoyle Derby runners, when we must remember to ignore Michael Tabor and listen to Aidan O'Brien.
