1st, a couple of messages.
onthehoy - you genuinely made me lol - so it was worth the struggle for that at least.
pumphol - I wholeheartedly recommend the fun that is the placepot competition (see chit chat forum everyone) it's not about prizes - just kudos
anyway I still hold all the records thanks to (I think) 6 Cheltenhams ago.
kenny mann - I'll look at the link later thanks.
SEATHESTARS - normal place rules apply - 7 runners = 2 places and so on
I allowed the 2 late entries in, as was still 'inputting'
To the hecklers - 190 people can't all be wrong..... which brings me to the breakdown of selections....
Section A: Day 1 horses whose names begin with T in the frame:
Predictions range from 0 to a single 9. Mostly 2, 3 or 4 though.
Section B: Total of DAY 1 winner's SPs:
A reasonably fair spread for this - could prove an important section
Section C: Horse to finish 2nd in the World Hurdle:
Thistlecrack, Cole Harden and Alpha Des Obeaux more or less jt favs for this.
Section D: Best of the 5 named in the Gold Cup
Unfortunately 2 of them are non-runners already! Which means 1/2 a point each for those who selected them.
Of the 3 that remain, Road to Riches is big favourite.
Section E: How many favourites will win (from the 28 races, not 27 as I had stated, apologies):
Guesses start at a single 3 and a single 4 up to 14 (no 13's though - is everyone superstitious?) with 8 being most prominent.
Section F: Will any horse make the frame in 2 races:
18 of us greedy sods said yes, everyone else will be quite happy with 1 point.... Or will they???
Section G: How many winners from the 4 named Jockeys:
1 pick of 1, 1 of 10, 1 of 14 everyone else between 2 and 9
Section H: The same for named Trainers:
A 1, a couple of 2's everyone else between 3 and 11.
Section I: The shortest priced winner from the 4 wide-open races mentioned.
The Coral Cup is least selected, the rest quite well spread.
Section J: The biggest price of a winner all week:
Just a few think 20/1 will be as high as it gets, only 2 think a big shock (more than 66/1) is on the cards
Section K: Will a lady rider triumph in ANY race:
From the 191 selections, if translated into odds... Yes is about 8/11, No is about 11/8
Section L: 7 Well fancied horses, scoring 3, 2 and 1 each for coming 1st 2nd or 3rd in the nominated races:
2 of you think all 7 will win, you can look at the rest and all the entries below.
I'll be updating the scoreboard at the end of each day's racing, on this thread. Any issues or problems please post these on this thread too.

Section A: Horses with names beginning with T finishing in the frame.
Well, quite a few more were declared than ran, and several finished 4th or 5th (but no cigar), so it's
just the one. 3 points for predicting that. 1 point if you went for 0 or 2.
Section E: How many favourites will win at the festival.
A good start if you think there will be some. There were 3 on day one.
Section F: Any horse to finish in the frame in 2 races.
I have no idea whether or not any of today's best finishers are likely to run again. Perhaps someone can tell me!
Section G: Winners for messrs; Twiston-Davies, Townend, de Boinville and Johnson.
Just 1 so far, doubtlessly more to come.

Think the calculation for Gold Cup best placed might have an error because everyone who put Carlingford has been given zero points, but those who put Holywell and Many Clouds got 4.
