Setting aside betting Ante Post, how do you bet on the day? I assume most fall into one or more of the following categories:

1. Bet on the day with bookmakers on course or in betting shop
2. Bet online only, following best offers and prices
3. Do a combination of both 1 & 2

I have historically done my AP bets and then taken a set budget each day and bet on course. I like betting on course, its fun and there is nothing nicer than watching a bookmaker begrudgingly handing you a wedge.

That being said, with the competitiveness of online firms, the number of offers and in lots of cases, better prices, I am more inclined the bet strictly online.

What do you do?

Reason I ask is historically I will take a budget per day and that will be my bank. Few problems with this. The offers and prices online are far more competitive than at Cheltenham, and I am far less likely to spend £800 in my online account

Probably bet e/w taking on some favourites in 100% markets in the morning of race. The 'offers' are getting worse year by year.

IF you are going to Cheltenham, you MUST go into the Ladbrokes shop in the town centre in the morning before walking up to course.   They have some ridiculous concessions like 1/2 odds a place, 6 places on some races.great price boosts.  BOG, etc.   Don't do it in any other Ladbrokes, just this one every year.

So, to bolster the ante-post I would bet in there if they had an sort of enhancement on a race or horse I fancied.

Then after that it would be betting on my mobile.  More crazy concessions all week, money back if second.  back a winner get free bets, BOG, etc.

Last resort the ring.

Tend to avoid the rails bookies, what's the point in using them? Poor prices and each way terms compared to online. Would normally supplement existing antepost bets with a few on the morning of each day, and throw a few quid at big priced handicap fancies on the Tote.
