Sam Twiston Davies talking to Mickey Quinn on Talksport Sat morning; when asked his best chance of a winner said "I'm really looking forward to Capeland in the bumper, he's not stopped improving since his win" ...still 66/1 on Betfair ????

Bizarre thing for STD to say. Nicholls has been saying for a while that he doesn't expect to have a runner in the race and NTD trains the best British bumper horse (Ballyandy) which is the current 8/1 co fav and STD will ride it.

At times you'd wonder whether the T-D's sit around sniffing glue on an evening.

Yesterday NTD put up El Terremoto for the Fred Winter in the RP article. Consequently there was a sea of blue on Oddschecker against the horse.

Now given that it's only run twice (stuffed both times) and recorded its biggest RPR as 103 does NTD really expect the handicapper to allot a handicap mark that sill see this horse run. Granted the juveniles are treated to the greatest ratings inflation you'll see all year (Gibralfaro on 151!!), but this one will need at least 26lb above its RPR to get in...and how can that be justified?

On the general issue of Capeland...even if it did end up running. Few 4yo's are ever competitive in open company and should generally be avoided. The stand out 4yo in Bumper history...Cue Card!
Connetable therefore stands out as potentially handy

LUFCwaffe - Juveniles need to have run three times over hurdles to be eligible for the Fred Winter. El Terremoto has run over hurdles only once.

Cash, I don't believe that is correct, but I know where you're coming from.
NTD can request from the BHA a handicap mark based on its runs to date rather than waiting for the automatic assessment on its third run.

The race conditions do not state a minimum of three runs.

Yes they do.

yes, sorry it has had three hurdle runs. The RP don't show the lower grade races in the race record.

btw that French rating mentioned on the other thread of 580 is its chase rating, the hurdles one as it doesn't appear to have performed as well as it did over fences.
