I've never treated myself to a copy of the Weatherbys preview book. Has anyone who has a limited account with Stan James tried to get the free bet off them before?

got my Weatherbys betting guide yesterday.
Paul jones is not the author this time around .. and i just wonder for what for reasons??for the last couple of seasons the trends and stats have been getting smashed to pieces. especially in the handicaps. I think he has stepped down at the right time before it got embarrassing for him...New era of trends upon us, or a new insight to how we tackle trends at cheltenham is nedeed and i think paul has realised that. Tipster matt tombs has the took the reigns this season and has added a fresh new look to it..with additions of the "freshnessometer" in short he looks at each race individually and has decided based on days off the track and runs that season as to whether its good to be fresh for a race at the festival or whether match practice has proven to be the port of call for the individual race. All in all enjoying the read so far, a lot more angles covered than pj and a different look at each race instead of every race thesame angles being covered. The book is also in colour for time this year all these little things make for better reading. |

He has stopped doing the weatherbys book because he has gone solo,he now has his own horse racing and sports service.
He stated last year he wasn't writing it this year and that a fresh pair of eyes might work wonders and wished Matt Tombs who he knows well the very best of luck,i also get the feeling it was becoming a bit of a grind. I don't really think you need to rely on stats that heavily for grade 1 races,it was the handicaps where this book became a very usefull tool, all those rating bands where the winners used to come from sadly are disappearing. So I wouldn't be that hopefull of a turn around in fortune. |
