i know we have the same thing most years when we wonder will we ever get a dry spell and of course we all know how well chelt drains - and we all know how SC has a very broad description of g-s but there are worse 8-1 pokes imo

Not a bad shout.

They'll try and get it good to soft, through watering if necessary (and please don't start crying about it. It's been this way for years. Deal with it!)

The only think that could kybosh the whole deal is if they water up to the Thursday say, see there's due to be rain for the weekend beforehand, and it p1sses stairods for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

It'll never be (declared as) anything better than good to soft on the Tuesday, but anything worse than that is out of Claisse's control and therefore worth looking at

be interesting to see what the slowest g-s supreme has been to see precisely how far he will go out of his way - i would do the research but got to pick my daughter up from school - if i had an account would have a cheeky score

2 in the last 9 soft then. Agree 8-1 looks value Mischief

If I could bet with Boyles I'd definitely have a few bob on this for an interest.

Feb in the south is supposed to be dry an colder as the month progresses.
It has to rain on the Sunday and Monday for it to be soft.

2 of from 9 makes a 7/2 shot if that was deemed to be the norm, but it's also 2 of the last 11, which makes 9/2. 8/1 looks overpriced, but Boyles don't like me either unfortunately.

2 in the last 20 festivals and one of those it was changed at 3 15 from soft to good to soft.

I actually looked up the Cheltenham ground in relation to 'El Nino' weather events ... this proves beyond any doubt that I'm a very sad individual....

results... Since 2000, El Niño events have been observed in 2002–03, 2004–05, 2006–07, 2009–10 and 2015–16

I agree ms. It's hard to see it being anything other than good to soft or soft. On which basis, soft has to be a decent punt for a few quid at 8-1.

C'mon now boys, surely there's enough other things to be betting on/discussing?

Why is there no market on whether Vautour will use a Bic or Zippo to light his cigar as he canters past the winning post?

Probably wise, he looked a bit short of breath over the last 50 yards at Kempton. Now he's on the patches, surely he'll stay at Chelters? Oh gawd, not another angle! 200 posts later......

Good to soft and firming during the week looks the call now with no rain forecast other than a possible splash on Thursday.
Would they water the Gold Cup course during the meeting if needed?
By:
Can't Catch Me
When: 10 Mar 16 14:19
Yeah good to soft most likely, but seeing what Claisse last said, there wont be much between good to soft and soft... and its now not forecast to be quite as warm as it said.
By:
cyclops
When: 10 Mar 16 14:35
Yes, appreciate that but do you know if watering could take place during the meeting were it needed?
(Especially as night temperatures are set to be only a touch above freezing).

No idea tbh.... but doubt it looking at the forecast.
