For me this one is the darkest of them all for the gold cup, few weeks ago i placed a few bets on him at 33/1 with bet£365 nrnb, D-Day has arrived but he loves this ground today and have taken some 10s this morning each way.

Was thinking they might put him in the Festival Handicap Chase on day 1, but just looked and he is rated 156, which is a bit high.  Usually something in the mid 140's wins that.

From Gaultstats: Since ’83 ratings of winners between 129 and 150.  Before Holywell the previous 14 were 143 or under. The Druids Nephew then bettered that with 146.    Fork Lightning was 136, Kelami 133, Dun Doire 129, Joes Edge 130, An Accordion 143, Wichita 142, Chief Dan 142, Bensalem 143, Alfie Sherrin 129, Golden Chieftain 132, Holywell 145.  No winner rated 150+ since Scot Lane in '79.

Doctor Harper, currently ineligible for the Novice H'Cap chase on day one, after being raised to 141, might go there now?

Quality of festival hcaps is getting better all the time a few of the previous winners would not get into the race now, which should give higher rated horses more of a chance.

Doctor Harper is entered in 2m handicap chase at Sandown on Saturday, perhaps his mark will come down a couple of pounds if he runs poorly there. Just saying.
