I reckon this beast is well over priced.
Sceau Royal is a horse I really respect and was deciding whether to have a little play on him at 16/1. But when you look at the form there is absolutely nothing between these two, yet Adrien du Pont is available at more than double the price at 33/1. I thought he travelled really well on the better ground at Chepstow on debut when virtually dead heating with Sceau Royal, and considering the form of the PN team in the run up to Christmas he did very well to finish so close to that rival again at Chelts.
He showed a really good attitude to win last time on very testing ground in the Grade 1 Juvenile Hurdle at Chepstow, and I think the form between these two is as good as anything at home and they should be similar prices.
PN said after his last win that he was one of their most forward juveniles and that he had, and the horse had now put himself in the Triumph picture, so hopefully thats the target. Sceau Royal bolted up last time so give the form a boost, even if it was a poor race.
Seems worth a few quid at a whopping 33/1 anyway.

Careful with this one, CCM. Nicholls not very positive regarding the Triumph on ATR last night. I think he said he needs further already.

A great weekend for Team Ditcheat with Adrien Du Pont providing our first Grade 1 success of the season at Chepstow on Saturday a day after our three runners completed a treble at Doncaster. There was much to like about the way Adrien Du Pont won the Future Champions Finale Juvenile Hurdle on seriously testing ground for such inexperienced horses. He was the first Grade 1 winner for Johnny and Sam de la Hey who are such enthusiastic supporters of ours He coped better than most with the conditions as he stayed on relentlessly to lead at the final flight on his way to a hard earned victory by two and three quarter lengths from Chic Name. Nick Scholfield said that although Adrien Du Pont struggled at first to pick up in the ground he then had a job to pull him up after passing the winning post. He already looks like a true stayer at this early stage of his career and though he will have an entry in the Triumph Hurdle I probably have other, sharper youngsters for that race. Oh well, haven't gone mad, just a few quid ew... might still get a run for it! |
