Yep backed it and bachasson for Cheltenham 16/1 and 20/1
By:
12/1 for any race with Billy's if anyone's interested.

Since when does Mullins let his Cheltenham contenders come out to play at Galway in the summer? Behave and wait a month or two for the real ones ...
By:
12/1 any race very fair Imo looks a very nice horse but if some big guns come out and beat him in the graded races (wich they may not and he will shorten) surely he'd still run at cheltenham and be vaue for the 12s in the Martin pipe / or coral cup

12/1 any race Long Dog, is the best bet of those prices up in the "any race" betting imo. Could run in any of five or six race, as pointed out below, so if he is top class he goes for the Neptune, if he is just off top class.
he is already RPR 148 and OR 144, so will get into all handicaps already. |

Have a listen to the Rich Ricci interview on the ATR website guys. He is very complimentary about this one, he's only ran over the summer because he missed some time due to an injury.
By:
Like Him, and Maputo for the Supreme, and not prejudice on either running in the summer, they are racking up monster RPR's

Anyone know what Long Dog's write up said in the WM stable tour. I didnt get chance to see it as I worked late and couldnt find a copy late eve on Monday. Is the Neptune in mind?
By:
Hope goes Neptune.

Rp write up : ' he's won 4 in a row over 2.5 at limericks a grade 3 novice so he obviously stays. But he has a turn of foot and has won on ground from good to heavy. When he won by ten lengths at Galway I loved the way he responded after blundering badly two out. It was the sign of a good horse. Although he's been competing against summer horses he could get better as the season goes on. If he does we`ll have plenty of options'.

im sure ricci said in the interview to matt that hes a 3 miler
By:
I've backed him for any race at the festival at 12/1 seems the only logical bet at this stage..like the vibes surrounding the horse though

blackngold,
Great RP update, really appreciate it. Nothing in WM's words puts me off the Neptune as his aim. Certainly no mention of needing to step up in trip to Albert Bartlett, I just cant see that as a preference at this stage. He is in a Grade 3 over 2M on Sunday. |

I think it's Thomas Hobson Sunday mate..can't see long dog entered up in anything?
By:
Was declared for Navan initially but not at final entry stage
By:
Looks like long dog is a machine. Three stars serving up to bachasson. Archive and Tycoon prince and Thomas hobs on since.
By:
Could be a really informative race this weekend if he comes over to Chelts and runs against Penglai Pavilion.
By:
Watching him live on Friday romping to victory would start the meeting perfectly for me, followed by Maputo's Supreme Trial win on Sunday.
By:
I don't think Willie is planning to bring Long Dog over for this Cheltenham meeting.
By:
Hope Maputo handles Prestbury better than P Pavilion. Same old for JF?
By:
Parlour games ran well twice at Cheltenham last season........maybe pavilion just ain't very good!!
By:
Yeah - and he even won a race there a few weeks back didn't he? Just can't have these flat horses when the going gets really tough - like at the Festival
By:
Even Nichols Canyon (ex Gosden?) looked half the beast at the Festival - and he's a Mullins horse!
By:
yeh,I like people with that attitude....more the merrier.
By:
Agreed on John Ferguson generally, his flat horses don't win really big very often at Chelters. I personally hope that MAPUTO is better equipped than all that have gone before him. Though the weather forecast tomoz is dire here, so not sure he would run on Sunday or show his best on soft slogging ground. If he did, wouldn't that be a turn up?
By:
it's a matter of time re his horses at Cheltenham and in particuker the festival.
His operation ain't been going that long...wait and see imo. |
By:
We wait but can anyone explain what happened with Penglai and Purple Bay? Did he over trained them ? Should we wait until he becomes a better trainer? I don't know...
By:
no idea what happened to those two,but personally I think this trainer is worth keeping an eye on for the festival.
He is unfashionable and plenty are saying the same as a few on this thread, but that means prices can be big enough to take a chance with. I think he will start wining races at the festival, and when he does I intend to be on at nice odds. |
By:
Long dog and bachasson entered in the royal bond race on Sunday..He always aims a decent one or two at this and i have backed him a few times to win any race at the festival...so I'm hoping for a decent showing Sunday from long dog!

I wonder what one Ruby will choose , both look evenly matched to me
