The one thing I'll be doing differently is doing 95% of my backing on Betfair. Sometimes I like to lay my stake off, and saves tying up hundreds in cash for months to cover the liability.
Betting wise, same strategy as last year. I like to do a mix of "to win today and the race at the festival". Can put you on some big prices for winning a pretty weak trial run. I'll also not get sucked into backing in races on the day when I've already got a decent book. This year on the day, The New One, Kings Palace, Sprinter and Conti all hit the magic 4/1 and couldn't see any of them out of the top 3. Thought I'd get my money back on all of them at the very least, and didn't get a single penny. While its great to be on a Mullins novice hurdle superstar, tread with caution. Douvan was the one this year, but hype ones like Tell us More and Alvisio Ville can leave you broke. |
