Read elsewhere the Wifi seemed to work better.

I had 4G signal all week and it was quicker than anything I've known! Almost as quick as the wifi in my house. Never struggled to make a call. So never even tried the on course wifi. Well done Cheltenham. Top job and made a big difference to my week.

Yes much improved - the on-course wifi could only be used for six bookies but was excellent.

Who are the 6 Bookies Arkle ? Are Betfair one of the contributors.

Betfair was one, so were 365 and Stan James. You couldn't access oddschecker though but really can't complain though I imagine the oncourse books aren't too happy

Coral were another but that's no use cos they don't take more than 2 quid bets !!
Betfred also. Basically its the bookies who plough money into sponsorship at the course and or have made the investment into the Wi-Fi for the course.

They all worked on the 4G lads... and oddschecker!

There were six in all - the five above and one other but cant remember which one it was. You just had to register your email address to get on system

I assume they, the bookies, pay a few quid well quite a few quid I'd imagine. The festival is one of the greatest shows on earth but sure is expensive and someone or all of us will pay for the new development which is looking good tbf. I imagine the Saturday will happen very soon. I dont mind as long as they dont dilute the four days anymore by moving the grade ones to Saturday. There are hundreds of handicappers who cant get in so hopefully they will accommodate them on Saturday and of course the bookies will be delighted. But either way I'll be out of there on Friday evening and if there is further dilution on Thursday and Friday I'll leave on Wednesday. However tbf to everyone involved they have created a wonderful product and I generally wish them well. We NH enthusiasts are so fortunate to have two Christmases every year! Long may it continue and I intend to make that trip every year for as long as I physically can.

Normally I spend all four days thoroughly frustrated by the lack of signal and the inability to get my bets on, however this year's 4g upgrade meant I was able to do my bollox all day every day at the touch of a button.Cry

Can you let me have some of those compromising pictures of the Vodafone Chief Exec you must have then?

Hit and miss for me on o2.

Got a free bet for TUM losing the Supreme with Hills and struggled to get the free bet on in time for the 3m handicap chase.

Just got it on after trying for ages, but put it on Gevrey who was being ridden along before they reached the first!!!

I didnt need to make a call which is the alternative when the mobile data connection isnt working so cannot comment on the phone signal for this year's festival.

I have a new HTC1 m8 with 4g which got a data connection (mostly 4g) for 90%+ of the 4 days. Friday being a little worse than the other 3 days.

The best festival for getting through to Betfair over the internet that I can remember. Pity it coincided with my worst punting in years!Sad

Did anyone put any cash down ?

I placed the princely sum of £15 worth of tote bets + placepots.

I'm with EE and used the 4G enough to destroy my battery every day. Mate is with O2 and he was also able to use this fine. Making phone calls and texts also fine. Didn't dawn on me that the Wifi only worked with certain bookies, thought it was just hit and miss

I used 02 the 4g, worked great. Though the new bench area near the parade wasn't so good, everywhere else was perfect.

on course bookies carnt be too happy. Must have been a fair few bets placed online by people at the course. Most of my bets where done with mr power whilst at the course, so simple on the phone these days.
