I've got my eye on Tony Martin's Savello. Won the Grand Annual over fences last year and as he's been given a sack of coal to carry, I think he'll be looking at the hurdles races for him. Tenderly campaigned, Bryan Cooper really likes him, I think and has good memories of steering another Tony martin plot to a facile victory in this race 2 years ago - the mighty Ted Veale. Ironically, I can see Ted doing the opposite and rocking up in the Grand Annual.
Anyway, he's a decent price for a quietly classy horse, he's got a nice weight, should get in and is likely to shorten if he's there on the day. Obviously he does have multiple entries but I think this is his race.

I like the look of Chesterfield for this. Has course form winning at the PP meeting and looked the winner at Kempton over xmas until coming to grief at the last with violent dancer winner of the betfair in behind. Anyone know whether the lack of run since was due to the fall or protection of the handicap mark?

Is Tiger Roll going to run in this? Looks a cracking bet if so. Last year's Triumph winner with only 11-1 on his back. Ticks a lot of boxes.

I like Arzal who was an eyecatcher in the Betfair Hurdle imo, handicapper has left him on same mark but he's not gone unnoticed by the market and connections were talking about a tilt at the Imperial Cup beforehand.

As an aside, just noticed Sgt Reckless has an entry here, I wonder if they're thinking of running here instead of Arkle given his lack of chasing experience? (s'pose it could just be precautionary in case he tips up at first in Arkle or something).
