Nothing serious, just a bad scope or something.

FFS this is the anti post equivalent of those idiots you hear shouting "fall" when their horse is well held coming up the straight. I'm going and I want to see every star name turn up and run their race regardless of what I've backed. Every year I want to see a mega clash in every race it's what makes it the best meeting on earth.

No it isn't. World of difference between wanting a horse to fall and not minding if a wee niggle keeps a rival out.
I also love seeing the best clash, but (for example) I don't believe that there isn't even a small bit of a The New One ante-post backer that wouldn't mind seeing Faugheen miss out and sending TNO off at odds on. Any way, only meant as a bit of fun. |

Appreciate the sentiment and I think you mean no harm but I don't like this thread at all.
To hell with what I've backed, I want them all to turn up; God knows, they spend the rest of the season avoiding each other these days. Sorry, but just my two pennorth. |

The last thing I wanted to come across as was someone who doesn't love the competitive nature of the festival and the great racing. Always the first week I book off work every year. I just think that from an antepost betting point of view, you're due the smooth sometimes as well as the rough. We've all had countless AP bets that haven't reached the post, and the point of an AP bet is to grab a bit of value. The occasional non-appearance of a market rival is often what helps you beat the price. Agreed that one of the biggest disappointments of NH racing today is the lack of competition through the year with the top horses avoiding each other like the plague. Some once great races are now reduced to either prep runs for the festival, or competed for by 'B' class horses. FFS the King George is becoming a Gold Cup Trial  .Maybe I should have entitled it 'Which horse withdrawing from the festival would benefit you the most financially?' PS - Strange thing is, I started a thread similar to this a couple of years ago to a totally different response! |

I don't see much harm in "what if" threads. It's not like he wants them to die. Even if he did, it wouldn't
make it happen. There were people laying the hell out of TNO this morning because of a rumour - that's the AP game. Every time you bet a Grand National horse, you're basically punting on half the rest of the field falling. |
