Definitely has the best form in the book. Douvan Fav due to Mullins Hype factor, but he might win.

Emerging Talent (keen sort),K.Vic (stayer), Kilcooley, J.Cracked it????????? over 2 miles?????? all on soft ground. His jumping is suspect, and I`m expecting errors at Chel on an undulating track the way he approaches a hurdle.
I don`t rate the horse the way people are talking........... but all about opinions. Not long now....... to find out. |

Call me crazy, but I think both L'ami Serge and Jollyallan should be shorter prices than the Mullins beast.

One things for sure and that is Douvan has won 4 races and the most horses in any of those races was 8. Might not like travelling, might not like a big field, might not go the quick pace, there bound to go at Chelters and not run on an undulating course like Chelters, so plenty of reasons to take him on.

Jollyallan........... the LAY button be ready for him.......... I hope he is travelling well turning for home...........

The problem i have with L'ami Serge is that he beaten very little but his handicap run is looking good but still not strong enough for a supreme. Plus he needs to prove he goes on better ground but being by kings theatre you would think could well be fine on better ground.

|
By:
he'll handle good ground alright

Pretty sure Hendo and Geraghty both think he'll improve for better ground.
The worry for L'ami Serge and Douvan is that neither has raced in a properly strongly run affair. Douvan in particular has breezed through his races and shown an electric turn of foot, but we've never actually seen him tested through the race (think Irving last year). L'ami Serge is similar, but is generally very keen through his races which is a positive sign that he'll handle championship pace. Jollyallan's penultimate start at Kempton Xmas time was a strongly run affair and he breezed through it. He'll be well suited by the frenetic pace and for me has the most reliable form (L'ami Serge's form is potentially even better, but decidedly less reliable). At 10/1, he's the bet for me. |

The trouble with taking prices, at the moment, is, that there is 2 weeks still to go and anything can happen in that time, change of ground, injury and all that. The biggest one at the moment, is that bookmakers, will shorten horses up in price, for no reason at all and will say this horse and that horse has been backed, shorten its price up even more, hoping that punters will back it, because they have said, there;s good money for it. However, you often find on the day of the race, the horse will drift back out, sometimes to an even better price. The best thing to look for, is the adverts on the tv. Paddy Power are offering 7/4 on Douvan for 30 mins, when its 5/4 everywhere else are the sort of offers, they give, but it usually tells me the horse won't be winning. That is just the sort of example, it might be Hills, it might be Ladbrokes, it might be L'ami Serge, or another horse, they want to get, but they don't usually win.

Yeah if u search any thread with Matt Williams on it, u will see my view of him.......... 1 winner from 44 selections...... disgusting........ his name of fame was catching Noland at 999/1. He had a cheek to sneer at G.OB selections. But sound bloke behind it all.

I think he is just about the best of the English.
Looking forward to this race always a fantastic curtain raiser for the festival. |

Interesting to hear Nicky say he had asked Barry whether two and a half might be better for L'ami Serge. Even he wants to side step Douvan
|
|
By:
Really? A surprising comment given how keen he is in his races so far..

Geraghty is the wrong person to ask about running away from one horse. Douvan is the reason he won't want to go further than 2m just now.
