Sprinter sacre is certainly not the horse of 2 years ago, sire de grugy is on comeback from an injury and beatable even if 100%, none of the rest would have you running scared in the least, this will be 2 years on trot this horse has swerved a championship race at the festival, as he should have been in the champion hurdle last year..

Don't know.

Because he's only ran 3 times over fences and fell on one of those occasions

fair enough, but its not like he's got Moscow flyer, azertioup and well chief to contend with, since sacre's problems this has been a very week sphere and I think it's there for the taking..

It is for the taking,he would win it imo.

Bet Vautour backers wish that as well inc me.

feel as if this horse has been held back a bit, will never know how it would have fared in a champion hurdle, and it may never make a champion chase.... Sad.

Having backed Vibrato Valtat I'd love to see that happen. I can see why it would be tempting, and I'd make him favourite were he to run, but the Arkle is definitely easier and is the wisest decision imo with his chasing career still ahead of him.

I would definitely run him in the QM. Pace of championship races argument is irrelevant to this case. He will dictate the pace wherever he goes. His inexperience over fences is also of no importance in deciding where he runs. He has the exact same chance of falling in the QM as the Arkle. An on song SS would probably put up a career best performance if he had UDS towing them along, but is SS likely to be at his best??

As Bankit says, anything can happen, and this time next year he may not be around. This year offers a great opportunity for a QM success.

Trying to keep these grade 1 horses fit and well is hard and a little luck is needed also, look at sprinter sacre, there no doubt he would have the 2012 champion chase, but he was sent to the arkle, fast forward 2 years he's still trying to win his 2nd title, I think you take it while it's there and the horse is fit and well, not take the easy option just for a 'festival winner'

the arkle is a great race too
