Have a feeling this one will be placed, and I think they will make sure hes placed.
Just a hunch of course, but the way he runs I can see him picking up the pieces from those that are more prominent trying to win or upset the fav. Foyles, I think a place bet is preferable,to win the fav has to fall imo. |

it looks that way budd but anything can happen , cant be afraid of 1 horse! have backed vv earlier at 19 and will have a go place on here if I can get enough on !

Place odds on here are normally rubbish. And it's the sort of race people will look at place betting, thinking the win part of an ew bet is a waste of money.

now thats how a proper arkle contender looks like! Good shout @FOYLESWAR

Yep - hard to see him out of the places in what will likely be a small-field renewal. Very decent performance that.

I thought Nicholl's had tongue firmly in cheek the other day when he said that UDS would give VV a good lead in the Arkle, apparently not though

I could just be looking too hard for something to beat UDS - but I really think Vibrato can track UDS within striking distance and he'll certainly see what UDS has left up the hill. Not to mention if UDS hits one, gets caught out by the undulations, or empties up the hill. Just annoyed that I didn't take the each way value at 16 a couple of weeks ago and now sit here looking at 8/1 best price

I really like the horse but UDS looks a beast and I don't see VV as an e/w type of horse to be honest. He's not going to find a lot so if UDS gets him at it he'll fold tamely and drop through the field.
He's the only horse in the race who I think has any chance of beating UDS though. |

Hugely impressive today in beating a very underestimated horse. looks like we have a race now!

People are a bit slow on the uptake on here. I mentioned Vibrato in the Arkle thread on the 9th of Jan. Here was my post:
Joined: 19 Feb 12 | Topic/replies: 60 | Blogger: Simonw1981's blog Surprised there has been little talk of vibrato valtat on here. The horse has won 2 recognised trails for the race in the Henry VIII chase at Sandown won by captain Conan, al ferof, somersby and direct route and the wayward lad chase at kempton won by sprinter sacre and simonsig. He still seems to get no credit though as he is/was a bit quirky. If UDS runs and sets a fast pace the race will be run to suit. I'm not saying he is going to peg back UDS but on the whole his jumping has been good, he doesn't lack for speed so in my opinion he is a good each way bet at 20/1. The race will cut up as only one of the Mullins horses will run, he isn't going to run both, so you can probably take Vautour or UDS out. Clarcam and gilgamboa will probably both run, but they could be ruled out with a bad run in the Irish arkle. Josses hill didn't jump well enough for me, he only just managed to beat solar impulse, who isn't going to be better than a handicapper in my opinion. So half the odds with jumping question marks looks a bit silly to me. The other horse I would give a mention to is three kingdoms, who ran well against vibrato valtat. He could get outpaced though. Anyway everyone has their opinions, so good luck no matter who you back. |

WD simon, you are in a nice position now

won nicely today but price crash a bit extreme considering how the second horse clouted and jumped a few a bit big...i'd say he has improved but how much i couldn't be sure but not sure he improved as much as people think as the second wasn't as fluent as he can be, his problem on the big day is will he have the horses to carry him into the race or will he have to try and run down un de sceaux on his own...anyway at least one horse looks like he maybe able to run a race as the race is looking desperate at present class/depth wise...he should at least run his race though so good luck and better ground should be ok, although he seems to handle soft very well judging by his last 2 races

Thanks. I'm in for the long haul though and won't be laying. My dad is one of the owners so I can't lay anyway! Looking forward to the Arkle now, even if UDS is top class, I never thought we would own a horse (even just a share) that had a chance of Cheltenham glory.

well done simonw and good luck !

arkle looks dreadfully short of depth this year.

if simonsig went off 2-5 i think uds could end up similar.

Got some fancy prices for him a while back. I don't like to go each way on antepost though. Wish I had now!

vibrato was impressive in the kingmaker and fter the kingmaker looks a viable contender for the arkle ! travels and jumps well ,maybe the arkle is not done and dusted yet ,likely goodish ground will be in his favour and may just have the pace to tuck in behind the fav ,can he beat un de scaux ? well nicholls don't seem to be shying away and std said he had a wind operation in the summer "he just travels so well but the big difference is he is finishing his races off ! he had loads left and is a proper arkle horse !

Hope you are correct Foyles on at 20/1 e/w,has improved for fences as well as finishing his races much more strongly.
